How will HHN effect IOA crowds during the week?

I know this is a question of first impression (to use a legal phrase) as the horror nights have never been at IOA before, but I was hopeing that some of our USF experts out there would take a stab at guessing how the crowds will be during the week when IOA closes early for the horror nights. Unfortunately, the only day I can go to IOA during my upcoming trip is wed, oct. 23rd, when the park closes early for HHN. My thought is that the park would be less crowded, as people would try to go on a day when the park is open longer if they could help it, but I am no expert on IOA crowd flows so I need everyone's help!

Thanks!

We will be at Universal at the same time.......Oct 19th to the 24th. We plan on going to HHN on the 23rd. Hopefully the crowds wont be too bad!!

In my opinion, I think you should be alright with that day of the week. The bigger key I believe is getting their early and whether you have FOTL access.

I will be staying at the poly (as part of the CBR refugee program!) so no, I won't have FOTL access, and that is exactly my concern - given that the park is only going to be open for 8+ hours, will it be too crowded to make it worth going!?!

I never find the crowds in October to be bad at all, that is before the crowds pile in for HHN!

And congrats on the Poly deal! :teeth:

Robinrs,

first off, thanks for the kind word - this will be our first time at a "deluxe" resort and we're only paying $120.00 per night! (of course, I am starting to dream about staying at the hard rock or royal pacific lately after reading about them more and more on this board!)

anyway, can you explain how you think the transition will work between close at 5:30 and reopening at 7 pm. I know WDW changed how they handled these matters last year, as I attended the MVMCP and will be going to the MNSSHP this year. do you think they will start letting people in to IOA before the 5:30 closing and then leave a part of the park open for those people between 5 and 7 or will they handle it a different way?

In years past at Universal, if you were in the park they allowed you to stay. They starting closing down and roping off parts of the park to the general public.

If you have a HHN ticket, you are allowed in the roped off area. They usually have a restaurant or two open. They also will usually open one maze early so you can get thru one with a minimal wait.
