How will HHN affect those not going?

My young family of four will be at RPH Oct. 7-11. We will not be going to the HHN since the children are just too young. How will the event affect us? I know the park will be closing earlier than usual, but will that be the only thing? Will the crowds get really thick towards closing time? Will it affect dinning at Citiwalk? Will we be able to hear the crowds (screaming) from the pool at RPH?

Thanks! :flower:

HHN is being held at IOA and so the Stay and Scream area will be at IOA. Some people will start arriving at IOA an hour or so before closing to be at the Stay and Scream area. The majority of the people will just show up for the start of HHN. The crowds during the day shouldn't be bad at all. Most won't eat at CityWalk during HHN becuase they paid to go to HHN and not spend time at Citywalk but close to closing time of HHN, it will get busy. I would avoid Citywalk an hour before HHN begins and an hour before HHN ends. Once HHN ends each night then Citywalk will be a madhouse with everyone leaving.

I doubt you'll hear any screaming at RPH.

When I went last year, the crowds were not bad during the day, but CityWalk was very crowded in the evening. I wouldn't want to take my kids through CityWalk when it is that crowded. You might want to explore around Orlando on those evenings. There is tons of stuff to do on International Drive with young children in the evening.

no just selected nights, times and dates on universal website. the only thing out of action that is being used for HHN is poseidons fury, other than this it shouldn't make any difference. i will be out there during this time, and am not doing HHN as i also have a youngster

HHN dates: Sept. 30, Oct 1, 7, 8, 9, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 20, 21, 22, 23, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31.

Thanks, Phamton. We will plan on leaving the park a bit early and avoid CityWalk just before and just after HHN. Momof3disneyholics, I think we will take your advice and hit International drive one of the nights. I'm not familiar with that area at all. Is there a website somewhere where I could get info on the restaurants and maybe minigolf in the area?

Thanks so much, you all gave me just the information I was looking for! :sunny:

If you stay on-site (which it appears you are) the crowds will be much less of a factor. You will have Express Access to all the rides. You will have priority seating at most of the restaurants, and when it gets crowded at City Walk you can go back to your room to relax and get away, enjoy the pool, etc.

If you have young children, I would ask for a room as far away from the elevators as possible or at the end of a corridor. The walls are pretty thin at RPR and when HHN is over, lots of folks coming back are not exactly quiet. This is not always a problem, but it may be best to be proactive.
