How will FP plus be handled with DVC? AP or No expire tickets?

sort of worried here....I have no expire tickets which I don't really want to use in June. I had PLANNED on renting points a few nights before checking into YC. Last year I was able to pick up my ticket package early while at DVC, use park passes for a few days prior to checking into YC o my package.

I don't think I will be able to do this in June 2014. I can get my tix early but my ability to reserve a fast pass will not be allowed until the package starts. WHICH leads to my question - how will a person staying on DVC points (annual pass or using no expire tickets) be able to reserve rides since Disney isn't "selling" tickets to the person with a package... Does that make sense?

I've already linked my AP will call # with my AKV reservation for November. You don't have to have a package for fastpass+. It works with DVC, it works with room only also. You just have to have tickets to link.

You can enter your existing ticket's number into your MyDisneyExperiene profile. The iPhone MDE app will even "scan" in a barcode of an older ticket. (New RFID tickets do not have a barcode)

OP again. Ok I think I get it now for AP and No expire tickets. Long as I have a room I can link my tickets. HOWEVER when picking up tickets early - say I am renting points Sunday and Monday and checking in on a pkg somewhere Tuesday.

I pick up the tickets Sunday. Now I have physical tickets. I guess I COULD now link these tickets for the next 2 park days for myself while staying DVC but since others have been able to book rides 90 days out my choices will be slim no doubt.

Would THS WORK INSTEAD? Buy the tickets elsewhere. Say 8 day ticket. Could I link THESE tickets to DVC and link the tickets to a room at YC? Basically linking SAME ticket for a split stay? I wasn't do a dining plan anyway so not really losing much by NOT doing the package....Thoughts on this plan?

I may be wrong, but I believe the magic bands (which allow fp+) can be independent of a room. Therefore you need to not think of it as a package. A Florida resident may not have a room, but can link their annual pass to a magic band and take advantage of the fp+ system.

I just need to figure this out before committing to renting points for part of stay. Would you agree though that renting DVC points for PART of the trip is not going to work UNLESS I purchase tickets (or use my no expire which I don't want to do) and put these newly purchased tickets on my DVC room AND my room only reservation at yacht club? Sounds like I NEED a physical ticket...but then what happens to the off site people they will have a physical ticket but no Disney room....

I'd get on the planning forum and look at the FP+ Q&A. If you don't see an answer, ask someone- it seems there are some FP+ experts over there.

You need to have tickets linked to MDE in order to make FP+ selections. So far, MagicBands have only been made available to Disney Resort Guests. If as a Disney Resort Guest you receive a MagicBand and have linked an Annual Pass to your MDE profile, you can continue to use that MagicBand for park entry and FP+ after that resort stay has ended.

Nothing is stored on the actual MagicBand except for a unique band id number. That band id number is linked to an individual MDE profile. The same applies to room reservations, park admission and FP+. They are all linked to MDE. So when you scan your MagicBand at a park entrance, it checks the associated MDE profile for park admission. If valid admission is linked, entry is allowed. Same thing happens when you go to enter your room at the resort or use a FP+ selection.

This is my understanding also.

I have passes and am staying on points in October at VWL. I don't think there has been a final decision on AP holders and day trips yet either, that has been publicized for sure yet. Some people are saying 7 days. Others are saying longer.
