How will Disney handle BOG reservations after the Prix Fixe change?

I think the problem Disney has here is ....
- Breakfast was announced Prix Fixe but they never enforced it so guests had the ability to eat how they want

I'm sorry, but what does this mean? I just got a breakfast ADR for early December and I was under the impression it would still be QS. Is breakfast changing too?

HopperFan is talking about the "distant" past. Breakfast and lunch are still QS.

Yes. And initially breakfast WAS QS but also WAS prix fixe. There was an adult price and a child’s price and you selected an entree and beverage like now but the intent was EVERYONE in the party was to be charged. But they never enforced it, so you had a group of 4or more eating off one plate just to get on the dwarf coaster first. And it then devolved further into a party of 4or more literally ordering A cupcake and maybe A coffee.

Are there people who DO order as intended? Yes. But there are far more taking up spots from people who would order for all to order the bare minimum and get on a ride.

The breakfast price, imho, is ridiculous. What is it now, $24? If it was a reasonable price, people would buy food.

If you are using a Dining credit, score! Otherwise ridiculous

I don't think Disney will have to do much "handling" because the majority o people will accept the new price policy.
Its right there on the website so it shouldn't be catching anyone off guard when making their ADR.
If people want to be stubborn, act entitled, and think they are "special" then they will get a rude awakening when Disney does not change their policy just for them.
I think the best Disney will do for them is allow them to cancel their ADR on the spot without charging a fee if they are unwilling to eat there due to the fixed price.

Agree. I wouldn't waste money or even a dining credit on breakfast.
Lunch is worth the price IMO.

It started as a very reasonable price considering you got a plate of pastries. BUT they didn't follow through with the prix fixe, didn't make everyone pay/eat .............. and everyone figured they could see the castle without really eating or spending much.

So the price kept climbing to make up for all the people not eating. If they just make it a legit prix fixe and everyone HAS to pay, they could drop the price and bet they would still make more money than they are now.

VERY easy to miss if you never go to that specific page .... many don't, not necessary to see that page to book.

You can book all your meals by using the Disney Dining Page (which is basically what you see on the app as well) and that way you can compare all your options available for your date/location. This is how I book when I'm looking to get all my meals for a trip. I usually only go to the individual restaurant page when I am trying to change an existing ADR to that restaurant.

OKAY >>>>>>> just got through.

I went to the Disney Dining Page and just put in my date, my number and looking for dinner.
BOG was listed with three times open.
I clicked a time.
Took me direct to reservation page.
Took me to reservation (MNSSHP dining with no warning, not good).
Took me to finalize payment (no warning about party or menu change).
All set, other than it calling it MNSSHP-BOG Restaurant, no warnings.

My email ...
NO bold mention of me having to have Party tickets
Said if on DDP, it will be 2 Entitlements
Scroll down and it's all the same special requests, cc guarantee, cancellation policy
Buried deep in restrictions and requirements; if applicable Hard Party tickets ....
Booking info, special meals, online reservations, phone reservations, at the restaurant
Lots to roll through

At NO POINT in the entire process was I notified of a clear cut (with date) change in the pricing structure, change in the menu, shift to prix fixe and the fact that we can't just order dessert like folks have been doing for years. If I were an average guest booking, I would assume it is the same menu, process and business as usual for my October reservation.

This is a major change, and it absolutely should be flashed to you on EVERY page, on your final reservation page and in your email. #fail

What will happen is guests will get their menu. See it is prix fixed and have a decision to make. Stay and eat at a signature meal w set price or get up and leave

At some point, there will be disappointed or mad guests. They will still have 2 choices

I usually can understand Disney's "side" however when it comes to these changes, they sure are lax. Whether it is about resort construction, menu changes, or transportation concerns, they ignore the obvious: people want information in regards to cost, policy, or comfort changes. I will never understand this disregard for their guests, and sure cannot condone how they ignore that the fallout lands directly on their front of the line CM's.

I know! WE always enjoyed BOG breakfast, but the last time the cost was crazy. I don't mind paying for what I choose to buy, but I refuse to pay more so others can enjoy a plate of pastry on me.

Has it been specifically stated by Disney that everyone in a dining party will be charged? As has been stated before, breakfast is fixed price and we see how well that worked out.

Can adults share? Will we see a patty of four splitting one child's meal.

I would bet that this time Disney will adhere to the policy that it has with the rest of the fixed cost meals. They dropped the ball at breakfast and look how that worked out? BOG could have been a very profitable restaurant, signature dining without a character meal, in the MK, but it ended up as a restaurnt without a true identity. My guess is that if dinner is well recieved breakfast will be changed as well.

I've never been to a prix fixe menu restaurant that didn't charge per person but who knows?
Perhaps Disney will redefine the meaning of the term.

I would love to witness this.
I second this notion. I would completely side with Disney on this one as well. For those who really are unaware of the pricing change, I would sympathize a bit. But in this case, where information is given in advance about the pricing change by a friend but is ignored and pushed to the side, and then the "I'm going to do what I want anyway" card is flashed? Drop the hammer on them and kick them out. Dispose of all people with entitlement issues in the trash where they belong.

OP, your friend sounds like a few of mine—very stubborn. You are probably the only person that she knows telling her about the prix fixe so she doesn’t believe you.

What will probably happen is that she will show up and be told that the menu is no longer ala carte. She can decide whether to pay $55+ for the dinner or ask to cancel. I can’t imagine them hitting her with a no-show fee especially if Disney doesn’t contact her by phone or Email to let her know ahead of time.

Not sure how they will be handling it but, I know one thing for sure. They won’t have to bother with my dinner reservation. I just can’t see how they’ll justify 2 credits. Guess I’ll have to wait and see how they can step it up enough to justify eating there instead of the other signatures.

They called the breakfast prix fixe when it first was announced, and that's why most of us assumed it would be a true prix fixe. But they didn't treat it that way. If we base our assumptions now on this past history of BoG, it could very well be they don't charge everyone.

I'm guessing they learned from that mistake and are trying to take into account that a lot of guests avoid MK for meals and hit the nearby resort restaurants instead. If this is true than it would also mean things should change at the resort's eateries as well. MK has prime R/E and not that many worthy restaurants as things stand now. I'm sure it excels on income production for QS but lags in comparison to other parks' TS bottom line.

I’m sure the $55 price tag is only temporary. I expect them to hike that price quickly so that it seems like it’s worth 2 credits.

I am in the same FB group as her, so most people are saying just to make the reservation anyway because no one knows what they will do. I am in the minority. I think once the change happens and reports come back she will see the light.

So I know the cupcake people exist. I have zero doubt they take up tables. But I really couldn't believe the stories here that a majority of people were doing it. We had our first PPO BOG breakfast in May. Arrived around 8, stayed until 8:35. We also did a dinner, stayed from about 6:15 to 7:30. I was on the lookout for cupcake people. Know how many I saw? None. Not a table eating cupcakes only. Everyone was dutifully eating their over priced breakfasts and normal dinners (although some of those may have been appetizer and drink only tables, which as a former server, I don't have a problem with). Admittedly, it was only two meals. Maybe May isn't cupcake season? But the idea that hundreds of people a day are doing this or that the restaurant isn't profitable because of the vast cupcake armies? Doesn't fit my experience. Again, I have no doubt it is going on. I just don't think it's as huge a phenomenon as it's made out to be.

Which actually gives me some hope for humanity. :daisy:
