How will D23 Expo impact crowds?

We arrive at DL midday on Thursday and will be at DL Friday-Sunday, leaving early Monday morning.

How will the D23 crowds impact us?

I don't know much about what it is except that it is a convention. Does that mean that most people attending will be occupied with convention "stuff" during the day? We have already decided that we will only see the night shows if we can fit them in without too long a wait. I am wondering if we should just get to the parks at opening and stay as long as we need and leave for the day, rather than go at opening, take an afternoon break and go back at night- it will be more crowded right?

Any input would be helpful. I am usually a huge planner and just didn't do as much this trip and now am a little worrired.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Kathryn

Sounds like there will be some evening-only passes ( after convention hours) available for purchase at the expo, so I'd expect crowds to grow a lot then.

Bump- Anyone??? Will the parks be super crowded at night? Is the convention during the day or in the evening too? Thanks for any information!

Not convention related but keep in mind that Southern California APs, which have been blocked out most of the summer, can get in again starting Sunday the 21st. That will add to the crowds I'm sure.

Just saw the expo guidebook - there are twilight tickets available for entrance to the park after 4pm for expo attendees -- and the bulk of the events are over by 6 or so each night ( a few extras late). So I'd expect VERY busy evenings. And I bet a lot of folks come a day early or leave a day late as well just to go to the park.

Just get there early every day and enjoy what you can - and get as many fastpasses early as possible. It will be HOT too. Sorry...

Thanks for your responses! I just wanted to have a bit of a heads up. We will see as much as we can- this trip is just the beginning few days of a family trip to Hawaii, so we had no other choice on the dates. We will make the best of it!
