How/Why Did We Receive DVC Discount Instead of AP Discount as Resale-only Owners?

We are resale-only DVC owners (not grandfathered into anything) and also are Annual Passholders. I know the AP discounts and DVC-y discounts for merchandise, dining etc. are identical in most cases, and we were expecting to use our AP discount on those things during our trip.

The interesting thing is that when they scanned our passes it came up as DVC discount and not AP discount for multiple purchases during our trip in September. Like, I get that it's all the same in the end, but I was just curious why it was coming up as DVC instead of Annual Pass. Is this normal? Has me wondering if we could have been able to get into Top of The World Lounge lol.

The system will apply the DVC discount when it applies automatically during things like mobile check out.

Apparently they haven’t found a way, or have chosen not to find a way, to limit it.

In cases where you have to show your digital card, CMS are trained to look for the DVCY and should deny the discount…I have seen it happen.. including just this past week in MK

However, some let it go through. The CMS at the lounge, know the rules and apply them.

I don’t know if I would say supersedes it but seems that the simply ordered it first in the system.
