How Wet Does One Get On Kali River Rapids?

I don't mind getting wet, but my days of getting soaked are long gone. Have never ridden Kali over many, many years and many, many trips, never will.

We travel in December. This ride doesn't exist to us!

Thanks everyone. I remember when we rode about 4 years ago my DH got soaked and I was dry. I wanted to confirm! Looks like we will be skipping KRR in December, unless it's an unseasonably warm 90 degrees! :)

I don't mind getting wet- I have a problem getting wet in December....

Have you been to Disney in December? I was so excited to be going when it was "cool". Yeah, no! All the pics from the year before had people in 10 thousand layers because it was so cold. Our christmas trip was 90* every day. Really killed the christmasy feel of our photos! :rotfl2: Moral of the story, it may be 20* or 90* in Decemeber, so don't write off water rides until you get there. You may really need them! ;)

I've never been in December, but I live in Houston, so the weather is very similar. We will basically be waiting for the ten day forecast to come out to decide what clothes to bring. And even then the weather can turn on a dime. I'm hoping for highs in the 80s! Fingers crossed!

I have a question on this ride, I heard they have lockers near the ride, maybe throw a change of clothes in a backpack and store them in the locker and wear flip flops on the ride to avoid the wet shoe issue?

yes there are lockers that you can use for 2 hours for free. If there are any open.

The lockers aren't that big, we generally toss the cameras and phones inthem.

At least half (if not ALL) of the guests in a raft will be drenched, head-to-toe.

As though someone took a giant ice-cooler full of water and dumped over each their heads.

Yup - and I'm usually one of those. I tend to do this ride right before I am leaving the park for the day.

I have seen anywhere from drenched to dry and that is on same raft same ride. it is the luck of the draw for that ride

Yes it is! I'm the only one in my party that complains about getting too wet, and I'd say about 90% of the time, I'm the one who gets drenched :lmao:

If you ride with me you'll come out bone dry! Every single time I've been on it I've ended up soaked to the bone while the rest of my family seems only mildly misted :) And when I say soaked to the bone I mean that, when you change your clothes later, everything, even undies, are dripping wet. If you're female, definitely don't wear a white top before getting on this ride.

I've learned, as others have said, to do this ride at the end of my AK day. We always have a rental car so I've also learned to leave a towel and extra clothes in the trunk so, if needed, I can make a quick change, especially if we're not planning on heading directly back to the hotel.

But, despite the hassle, this is still a must-ride for me. My kids laugh so hard seeing me get soaked and, since we tour in August, coming off this ride is actually the most refreshed I've ever felt in Animal Kingdom!

The majority of the ride it's a much drier and tamer raft ride than most of the ones out there,it is however the huge final drop that gets you.

We rode this ride for the first time on our recent trip because my daughters begged us to. My husband and I wore a poncho as we didn't want to stroll around all day in wet clothes--June heat or not. We still managed to get wet. The water flooded in on us and apparently splashed into the face/neck hole area and got the front half of my husband's shirt sopping wet. The water went in on the arm hole of my poncho and my bottom right side was completely soaked. We would have been completely soaked head to toe hadn't been for the ponchos. My girls were disappointed because they got a light sprinkling. We rode again and they happily got very wet the next time. It's all in the luck of the draw, or rather where you're sitting when the raft drops. Another lady sitting beside my daughter was so wet she was wringing water out of her sundress. Be prepared!

I've only rode this ride from May - September. I usually wear a one piece bathing suit under fast-drying cotton shorts and a button down top over the bathing suit as we go through the parks. The bathing suit is high-necked and black, so it looks like a cami.

Before riding I take off the button down shirt and put on flip flops. I'm drenched, but, I dry off faster than I would have in regular clothes. I dress like this for Island of Adv at Universal too.

We have a lot of fun on Kali. It is not 100% that you will get totally soaked but you should be prepared to get soaked. It is so funny to see unsuspecting riders get drenched. We normally try to ride a number of times just before heading out from Park.

My favorite disney ride!! Yes, it is too short, and yes, I am always drenched no matter how the raft is positioned! :lmao: Our strategy is to bring a lightweight change of clothes in a plastic bag, wait until the end of the day and ride 3 or 4 times in a row. Then we go into the restroom and put on our dry clothing and we're good! :thumbsup2 That said, we may not do Kali in December....only if the temp is over 70!

Unless you have someone to hold your phone and wallet.. I would skip it! We got BEYOND soaked! It was fun (had someone to hold our stuff) and it was more than worth any amount of money to see my dad get the most soaked :)

If we go in Feb then I get soaked. We went in mid May and I was dressed in all quick dry cloths...not a drop! My wife was pretty wet though but not drenched.

Rode this back to back 2 years ago, first time my shoes didn't even get wet wet. The second time I didn't have a dry bit on my body. All depends on the luck of the side you go down on. Either way it is so worth the rides!

If I remember correctly there's a compartment in the middle of the raft to put things you need to keep dry.

And yes, you may get 100% soaked. We always have a blast laughing at whoever gets it worst.
