Going to DCA for the first time next week and I'm wondering about Grizzly River Run. We've been on Kali at WDW, and got really wet. What is your recomendation for GRR? Getting wet is fine, but getting dry after the ride is a concern. How do you tour the parks after GRR?

Really wet.

We do the 2 for a dollar emergency ponchos from the Dollar store. We still get wet, but not drenched!

That's helpful. At Kali ponchos don't do much because your seat and feet get wet, but perhaps at GRR it's different. Thanks::MickeyMo

Oh.....you will still get wet with the little emergency ponchos, just not the soaked through gotta get back to the hotel to change kinda wet.

We bought to ponchos from the little store next to GRR. They were spendy (6.95 each), but they worked really well. They are very long and have tight fitting hoods. We didn't plan on riding that ride, but curiosity got the best of us, so we splurged on the ponchos. We have used them a bunch since then and pack them every trip.

We used to get the cheapy ones for camping, but I decided that ponchos for a few dollars more work alot better.

You might just get a trash bag from your hotel maid (one of the big black ones), rip a head hole and the arm holes. I have seen people passing them off to others in line when they are done with them.

Grizzly Bear Rapids is very much Like Kali. I've done them both an equal number of times, where you are just praying that the Raft will rotate and you won't be the one that gets soaked. But, we learned a trick, you get off of GBR and run to the Orange Stinger, (they are the Swings that most fairs have) You will air dry in No time flat. princess:

SOAKED!

I have found that the seats near the open spots where you load get it really bad as water swishes over the sides there and can get your whole lap.
Also, pick your feet up and put them on the center ring or the edge of the seats below you. This has helped me a lot.

peagreenid,

I like the Orange stinger idea!!!

Disney has taught me to be creative......princess:

By the way Micca- Unlike Kali, GBR does not have the Water Cannons. (at least not that I have seen) For those of you that have not experienced Kali- At the end of the ride, when you are laughing at your fellow raft mates for being so soaked, WDW has managed to supply large water guns on shore for past humiliated guests to soak those who did not get as wet! And there is no way to dodge a face full of water!

I wasn't going to do the Orange Stinger but it's a fun idea.
I think the temp may be cool enought that we'll skip GRR.
Thanks for all the info.:earsboy:

We arrive to Disneyland on Thursday..........
We'll be the wet ones, running thru the park!

The first time we rode it we had no idea how wet we would get. My SO had her feet soaked so bad, we had to stop by Rushin' River Outfitters and buy her a new pair of shoes so we could go out and eat that night. I'm just glad it wasn't a long walk to the hotel :D

Here is another idea. Embrace the water!!! We wait until we area ready to leave and then ride 3 or 4 times. Yes you get totally soaked, but you can then go back to your room and change. It is the best way to ride the rapids.

<font color=navy>It's really a fun ride. I get the cheap ponchos when I go on the ride, and usually get damp, but not wet. I totally wrap myself in the poncho, and enjoy the ride.

My kids, on the other hand, especially during off seasons, go on this over & over until they are totally drenched.

There are lockers where you can store dry socks, etc., if needed. I just put my feet up.

:sunny:

If it is really hot we just get soaked and air dry. We avoid the ride after the middle of the afternoon since we don't want to still be wet after dark. If it is not hot, or we want to to dry, we pack a change of clothes and store it in a locker for the day. There are lots of lockers and a restroom you can use for changing right near the main entrance to the park.

Where are you staying? We stayed at the Grand Californian, and the entrance to the CA from it is right near GR. It was easy to ride, get soaked and go change in no time at all.

Wet, wet, wet!!.....and great fun!

We were just there last week....we stayed at DGC....and dressed solely for this ride. Ran over there (it is right on the other side of the DGC private entrance)....rode and rode (no lines) and then went back to the room to change.
It worked great!!
