How wet do you get on rides-going in December

I have to agree with you. Rode it both days we were at the park and they put my big butt right in front each time. I'm not complaining as I'm the one that went back for more. Will just be better prepare this next trip.

My husband has flat out declared he will never ride this ride again, that is how wet we've gotten the last few times we've ridden it. I used to ride Splash all the time and it was fine... a little wet but you were dry a few hours later. I wonder why they had to make this a soaker. We already have GRR for that.

They actually made it a soaker before the retheme when they changed out the boats or something and they just don't flow quite the same as they used to or something. My last few rides on Splash is when I got big-time soaked!

Also, just a note this only applies to the Disneyland verison of the ride. Tiana's at WDW does not get you soaked, but it uses bigger boats that seat side-by-side. You can still get a good splash, but it's nothing like where that huge wave engulfs the boat and leaves inches of water on the floor.

Yeah I had noticed it got wetter but we still rode it, just avoided row 1. This past trip though? INSANE.

I have seen people walking off Tiana’s who look like they dove fully clothed into the Rivers of America, were rescued by the guests paddling the Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes, and were deposited on the dock where you catch the ferry over to Tom Sawyer’s Island.

No matter the time of year, you must always be prepared to be completely drenched if you wish to brave Tiana’s (or Grizzly River Run).

How bad is Grizzly River these days? I haven't been on it in over a decade and I can't remember how wet I got back then. Soaked? A little wet? Wet shoes?

With rides like that it can be hit or miss. The raft rotates around, so a wave could miss you or hit you square-on. You could definitely get totally soaked in that case. One thing I learned the last time I rode Kali River Rapids (similar ride at Animal Kingdom at WDW), is that if the boat isn't very full, you are much less likely to get hit with big waves. I rode it a couple of times first thing in the morning before it got busy, and it wasn't bad at all (three to four people in the boat). Grizzly is a bit of a longer ride though so there are more opportunities to get it, but that's something to know. They do have courtesy lockers you can use for the ride - they really need to add some to Tiana's!

I have found that sitting by the openings increases the chances of getting soaked. Shoes can remain dry if you keep your feet on the center thing. There's a natural foot rest there. Oddly, I have been the most soaked by the dripping things when the ride is going up at the very beginning (before any actual drops or spins). I seem to often be right in line of the dripping. If I am seated next to people I know, I can do a major lean across them, but not if I am next to strangers.

We rode Tiana’s last year in November and brought ponchos and plastic shopping bags for our shoes. Luckily we got the last two seats and while we got wet, we didn’t get soaked.

In July, we were in seats 3 and 4 and got soaked. My son was in seat 1 and was drenched. But he tucked his feet up in front and his shoes were dry. But everything else looked like he jumped into a pool with his clothes on. We went to a sunny spot in galaxys edge after to try to dry off.

I can cope with most of me getting wet but not my feet or my butt! We are coming from the UK at the beginning of December and trying to work out how many pairs of trainers to bring, nothing worse than getting rained on/soaked on a ride and having no dry trainers to swap for !

Plan on your feet/shoes getting wet on Tiana's. Some people change into flip flops or Crocs prior to riding. Others wear bags over their shoes which helps but isn't always perfect. The water comes from the side and above the water will be dumped onto your lap. It wouldn't be your butt per se, but possibly your thighs and in between your legs.

When I rode Tiana's I changed into flipflops, wore a poncho and wrapped my backpack in a poncho. The water that was already in the log covered my feet and my bag and the rest of me would have been very damp without being in ponchos. I don't know if I will ride it again in Disneyland. I think the ride is cute and would like to ride it but it is just a lot of work to not get soaked on it. I wish there were lockers closer to the ride to store my backpack and tennis shoes.

On the flip side I rode it at WDW and even though people told me I wouldn't get as wet I still changed into flipflops and wore a poncho. The bottom of the log was completely dry and I only got lightly splashed on my hair and shoulders. I think I would have been okay without the poncho and in my regular shoes. So if I ride Tianas it just might be at WDW. I hate getting wet on rides but at WDW the amount of wet was acceptable at Disneyland it was not acceptable.
