How were the NY Eve fireworks?

Would love to hear reports from those at the World last night on the fireworks. I have read about the crowds, but would love to hear if the firework shows were really spectacular.

What were the highlights?

We were at the Mk and they were AMAZING!!!! There were huge displays all around us a some points, the whole place lite up like daytime. They've done something similiar at the holiday parties but this was even bigger, I can't even describe it. They were by far the best fireworks we've ever seen, really just amazing!!!!

We had the best time last night, it was so much fun. If you ever get the chance to go, it's so worth it. :teeth: :teeth:

I have to agree, the MK fireworks were AWESOME. We did NYE at Epcot 4 years ago and these were by far better. I did MVMCP a couple of years ago and these fireworks reminded me of those - they lit up like candles on a cake!

I have another thread about my opinions on Epcot's show.

Normally Epcot is the best fireworks show on the property for July 4 and NYE.

however they REALLY disappointed me this year. The finale was very short and not too impressive quite frankly.

We were in the Castle at a window table on NYE when the first set of fireworks went off at 8:30 p.m. That was very special. However, you cannot see the whole show. We were on the Tomorrowland Bridge for the 11:50 p.m. show, and that was very impressive. I cannot vouch for the NYE fireworks in Epcot, but we did see Illuminations on 12/26. IMHO, Illuminations was far better than the NYE fireworks in MK.

We were in MGM on New Years Eve and loved the fireworks. They were set to rock music and we fired from behind the hat and from the roofs of the buildings around the hat. The fireworks were amazing, they totally lit up the surrounding area. I didn't think the crowds were that bad. As soon as the fireworks finished we cut through the shops and walked back to the BCV. We were tucked up in bed 30 mins after the fireworks had finished.

Danauk,

Now that is impressive. We got back to our room an hour and a half after the MK fireworks, and we considered ourselves lucky!

We were at Epcot this NYE and loved the fireworks including the additional finale - amazing. We could also see the MGM fireworks which was a great addition!

We started the night at Epcot but after dinner we felt the whole experience was getting tired, same techno music in Italy and China and Latin music was playing in America. We decided to go over to MGM and we really enjoyed ourselves, not nearly as many drunks at MGM than at Epcot. We loved the MGM fireworks but didn't get back to our room until 2pm. We drove from the BCV's, traffic control was horrible on NYE. They had hundreds of cones everywhere and lots of disney security and OC sheriffs but they were not helping matters. No one could go straight or left when you leaft MGM, you had to go right, it is horrible and only caused a lot of people to go in a direction they didn't want to go.

We were at MGM for New Years Eve. My kids and I thought it was amazing. Like others have said, the sky lit up almost like it was daytime. DH hates crowds and was miserable. We also got to see the MK NYE fireworks on Dec. 30, although we stood in Fantasyland so we didn't have the castle view. Still wonderful. I'd do it again in a heartbeat, but I'm not so sure DH will EVER let us try it again.

We watched the fireworks at MK on 12/30 and they were incredible! On NYE, we were at EPCOT, and I was kind of disappointed -- it seemed they were shorter. Also, since the weather was warm and perfect, EPCOT was just a nightmare! I expected crowds, but not this many people! We were able to watch the fireworks from MGM, since they lasted much longer than the EPCOT fireworks. Illuminations (with the Xmas show added on) was shown at 7:30 and 11:30 and we really enjoyed the add on.

Actually I didn't really notice anyone "drunk" on NYE at Epcot, and I remember being very surprised by it.

However, as you said, and I fully agree, the techno music was getting REALLY REALLY old.

Not only did they have it in the countries they had it right in the major walkway at the fountain. It was so crowded there you had to walk around the long ways to get to World Showcase.

Another thing I hated was, as if it wasnt enough to have so many DJ's over there playing so much techno music, they removed the Epcot music from the area music and put in the techno music even in just area music areas.

Nothing like trying to enjoy the park on NYE and being fully removed from ANYTHING about the park. Nothing like leaving the LIving Seas and hearing "pump up the jam" coming from the bushes.

DD and I made a quick trip over to MK from Ft. Wilderness on 12/30 to see the fireworks "early". We were easily able to secure a great spot on the bridge - nothing like being on Main Street crowded beyond belief last year. We played visual "tennis" with the mirror effects, and were able to experience the joy of the 360s, which we missed. They were amazing.

We were originally going to watch Illuminations on New Year's Eve, but were sooooo disappointed with the shortened fireworks due to the missing fire barge and the silence instead of the wonderfully evocative "Origins" narration that we decided to skip. So, we watched pieces of Fantasy in the Sky from our camper - what fun!

We will be there for NYE next year. Does anyone know if you can get a good view of the fireworks from any resorts? I'd rather avoid the crowds.

Just so you know the NYE Illuminations at 11:40 pm is not the same as the standard holiday Illuminations they run during the season. They do a special New Years show at 11:40.

Any monorail resort has PRIME views of the MK fireworks, and the Boardwalk has GREAT views of the show for Epcot.
