I have recently had back surgery and will have to curtail many rides but I am curious about the Everest ride at AK as it does not loop the loop are you thrown around much and would it be practical to slip a cushion behind my back for support, also interested in Soarin.
Any advice will be greatfully received

My friend and I rode and we both were amazed at how smooth the ride was. I always feel like my neck has been wrenched after a coaster and did not notice this at all.
I thought Soarin was extremely gentle.

I don't know about EE, but Soarin' was a gentle ride.

Really, really HIGH in the air, but gentle.

I am post back surgery also, just over a year. Soarin' is perfect for you. Very gentle and enjoyable. Everest, on the other hand is a really cool, smooth, fun ride, but I think you should check with your doctor before you try it. There are some intense moments, a big drop and some stress on the back. How are you on BTMRR? I would rate Everest about double BTMRR. My surgeon told me NO rollercoasters for one year. I have to admit that after 2 back to back rides, I was a little sore and stiff for a couple of days. PLEASE use good sense! Also, forget trying to use a lumbar cushion, it would probably end up in the Yeti's mouth!

I just had back surgery 3 weeks ago and we leave for WDW in 3 weeks. My doctor has already told me no ride that take off fast(RnR). This week he will tell me more. I rode EE in February before surgery and it was tough on my then sore back. After riding it then, I plan to pass on it since I will only be 6 weeks out from surgery. Probably the drop and turns would be the real back killers if you already have problems. I most likey will pass on the safari too. The bouncing will be too much for me. With only be 6 weeks after surgery, I certainly do not want to damage anything. Soarin will be oK. But you really need to check with your doctor more than these boards. I had a lumbar laminectomy, so not sure what type of surgery you had. I didn't want to cancel since we are meeting friends and family, so see this as an extra recovery time. We are lucky enough to go back in October for another 2 weeks, so I at least have that to look forward to.

Do not ride Dino at all be forewarned this is a rough ride. Sorin you will be fine this is a gentle but exciting ride. They need more rides like this. I have back trouble and as stated about I would skip the safari ride as well. This is very buunce. I barly am able to do Thunder Mountain with my back problem. I would check with your doctor for sure you really don't want to take any risk.
