How was getting a WOC FP?

Just wondering how successful people have been with getting the Fastpass for World of Color. If I can get one then that takes a lot of planning stress from trying to pick the dining plan... How was your experience?

Had no trouble getting them Friday afternoon (4:30ish) but that was for a third show which had been added. I don't know when or if they ran out of tickets for that show but there was barely a line and the third show had been announced long before we happened to pass by and decide to get tickets.

But there's no guarantee that a third show will be added so you can't count on getting lucky like we did.

At 9:20am (or somewhere thereabouts), the crowd waiting to get into DCA stretched more than halfway across the plaza. There's no way I'd join that mob. :)

As other have said in WoC threads, if you only have one shot to catch the show, just buy the picnic lunches. It's the cheapest way to get a guaranteed spot.

As for the show, it was pretty good. On the one hand, it's basically a really long commercial for Disney/Pixar movies. On the other hand, it's an amazing and impressive presentation. Definitely worth the effort of getting a ticket to see the show at least once.

We went Sunday. We were on the fence about whether to bother to see WOC this trip since we will go back to DLR twice this year. We entered DCA around 10:15 and walked toward Grizzly. I remembered that DS8 and DS10 hadn't put on any sunscreen yet, so I sent DH off with them to a bench to do it. I figured, what the heck, and got in line for the WOC fastpass while waiting for them. When I got in line, I was standing across from Soarin' just past the Cars meet and greet. 40 minutes later we had fastpasses for Red section for the 9 PM show and both DSs were sunscreened and had seen Muppets 3D. This was our mellow trip, so we didn't even rush to the viewing area in the evening. I think we got there around 7:50 PM since we were kind of hoping to just go to the topmost tier of the red section kind of toward the right, probably not what most people were thinking of as prime viewing. We weren't fussed about getting the best view but felt the sightlines were adequate. DS8 and DS10 were up against the railing so they could see ok.

On a very busy day, I entered the FP queue at 11:50am. It started before GRR and wrapped around the Grizzly trail for quite a bit. But the line was moving constantly and I picked up a FP at 12:27pm. It was for the second show at 10:15pm. When I left, there were still people getting into the queue, but it was a little shorter.

i didn't have a problem getting a FP for WOC-only wished i had gotten my behind in gear earlier that day to get one for an earlier show-i got mine on the sunday after it premiered, at 3pm for the 11:15pm show....it was not hard , it was easy, there wasn't a line it was a snap...but the thing i feel bad about is all those park guests that want to get a Fp for GRR and can't till the Fp for WOC run out..and if at 3pm on a sunday they are still handing out FP's then something needs to be changed with that FP system. ;)

Last friday we got FP for the second show around 12... We waited in line for 30 min. They ran out of FP shortly after we got ours!

Not sure how the WOC FP works, but at WDW, you can't get a second FP for a second attraction until the return time has passed for the first. I guess what I'm asking, if we get a FP's for WOC as soon as they're available, can we get FP's for other attractions while waiting for the show to begin?

Yes. The WoC fastpass is completely separate.
