Is the food at Boma very different and spicy? I quite enjoy trying new foods, but my husband likes fairly plain foods, meat, fish, potatoes and veggies on the whole. I have read such good reviews and was really looking forward to it, but am a little worried he won't find much on the munu. We also have Le Cellier, CG and Kona booked, so don't know what I would change the ressie for (1 credit). If I also cancel Boma breakfast, then I could book Artist Point. Any ideas. Thanks.

I hated boma.. I like lecelliers, and most of the same ones as your hubby, my wife didnt like bomas either.

Not all the food is spicy...there are all kinds of dishes...my kids loved Boma...It is a must do for our next trip....

The food is pretty normal to us, we eat hummus, couscous, etc on a daily basis. I think some people might be put off by the names of things, but everything's pretty normal food. It's not really spicy or heavily spiced, either.

My DW and I have eaten in Boma's three times and have enjoyed it each time. We have completely different tastes and yet we both love the food. I am big on the meats and she adores the grain dishes and salads. We both agree the desserts are wonderful. There is something for everyone.

For those of you that do not like Bomas, what exactly is it that you don't like. After reading rave reviews, I made ADRS. Now I'm getting a little nervous. I have ressies for Breakfast and dinner. Do you prefer one over the other? Thanks

I love the Animal Kingdom lodge! I loved the atmoshpere of Boma but I did not like the spices they used. The kids buffet was excellent. The spices were not hot or tangy they were just different. The food quality and preparation were good but the spices were too much for me. I love all different kinds of ethnic foods and I really wish that I liked it. I filled up on the wonderful desserts. I am glad that we went and exprienced it.

We are big Boma fans. The food isn't strange or even very spicy. A lot of it food you have eaten before; it's just seasoned differently. If it were spicy, I couldn't eat it. It's a different dining experience and one that I really think is worth doing. Enjoy!

We didnt care for BOMA all that much. The food was good and we left there full, but it just wasn't out thing. I didn't find anything too spicy. It seemed to me that most of the food had a sweeter flavor to it than I thought it should have. Sweetpea enjoyed the kids bar (no way to go wrong with chicken strips and fries) friend also enjoyed the chicken strips. I loved the prime rib though. And I will say that the dessert bar is to die for. Most everything from the dessert bar was tastey. Zebra domes didn't live up to the hype IMO. From the reviews that we read I was dying to try it since everyone gave it such high marks. We dont regret trying it though. Im glad we did since it was an interesting expericence. But it just wasn't us.

 To me Boma's is the best buffet at WDW. :Pinkbounc

Please don't change your ADRs based solely on what you read here. Everyone has different tastes and expectations. Try it out for yourself at least once. If we listened strictly to the DIS boards, we would have missed out on some great meals! We really enjoy Boma..ate there for the 3rd time last week! Loved it and so did my mom, who was a little hesitant at first. My mom and I both just loved all of the soups!

We have eaten both dinner and breakfast at Boma. We found both to be very good. The breakfast is one of our favorite in the whole "world"--lots of traditional items to choose from. The dinner is of exceptional quality as well. I'm not a picky eater, but often don't like things that are too spicy. While some of the flavors were different (maybe sweet where I wasn't expecting it--like in my soup!), I found more than enough to eat. That's what's wonderful about a buffet..try a little bit, if you don't like it, have the server take it away, and go fill up your plate again!

I regret that we won't be dining at Boma on our upcoming trip--we're not staying at AKL this time!

Keep your reservation and enjoy.

I didn't find the food at Boma to be very unusual. In fact, my bf and I weren't crazy about it because we were expecting it to be more ethnic than it was (we are very big fans of Ethiopian and North African cuisine). They have a very large selection with lots to choose from, so even a meat and potatoes person can find something. For the price and selection, I say give it a try.

My bf and I are both kind of picky and we LOVE boma

The food is NOT exotic- its meat, potatoes, salad, desserts, etc.

There's a couple "different" dishes- but that's why I like buffets- you can try new things!

This just cracks me up. The food is not unusual at all. If you like meat, potatoes and some great salads and desserts. OH..and don't forget the wonderful soups.

The sauces are on the side and the chefs will explain them to you if you want to try them.

I cook and eat unusual food all the time. However Boma gets a huge thumbs down from me. I found the spicy foods dumbed down (perhaps to cater to a wider palate) and the desserts far too sweet. IMO it is overrated and the only reason I would return is for the kids, who did enjoy it. The place does nothing for me.

I am a very picker as is dd (11) and we have eaten there 2x and LOVED it!!! I am wondering about making an ADR for this trip. I chose it for my 40th b-day last Feb. and we had a most special evening there--unforgettable! I can't say enough good things about Boma!!

Oh the soups!!! I loved the Chicken Corn Chowder and the Butternut Squash Soup. Oh, I think I should go back this trip..... :cheer2:

Live a little! A setting like Boma is a perfect place to try something new. Take a little off the buffet and try it. If you don't like it, go get something else.

There is plenty of very plain food, and a kids buffet, so you won't starve even if you find you don't care much for the food. This is Disney, so it really doesn't go too far "out there" and there are always recognizable alternatives.

Who knows? You may find something new you never knew you liked. At the very least you would have had a new experience.

As for breakfast, it isn't even an issue. There's one or two "ethnic" dishes to try, but the rest is all basic eggs, potatoes, breakfast meats, and breads. How exotic can Froot Loops be?
