How uncomfortable are the pull-outs?

Has anyone (an adult) :) slept on these? We are still trying to figure out our configuration for our next trip..

Traditionally sofa pull-outs, I think, are pretty uncomfortable...thin mattress, etc.

Any thoughts anyone can give...

thank you,
Annette

My 20 and 17 year old have both slept on the sleep sofas and say they are not too bad. Not as good as a regular mattress, but not as uncomfortable as other sleepers they have tried. They only sleep one at a time tho on the sleeper as they are not comfortable with two of them in the same bed. Too much "you are on my side..." LOL!!

Our kids like 'em... The ones at VWL seem to be on a slight slant from head to foot. I usually put the mattress on the floor.

I snore (or so my wife says) so I usually take the pullout and let my daughter and her have the master bedroom. Having slept in the pullout at both OKW and BWV, I found them to be comfortable enough for my purposes, and plan on continuing to use them in the future. Why ? 1 bedroom points < 2 bedroom points, therefore = more trips to DisneyWorld !!

I'm sorry, but we just got back from our BCV stay on July 16th and I had to share the pull out in room # 558 with my 11 yr. DD and I thought it was terrible! I could feel the springs and I awoke each morning with a back ache! If I ever have to go back and use the pull out, I plan to bring my Aerobed!

That's funny skorpie, because I had the same experience with our King bed at VWL this past June. It was the worst. I think the pull-out may have been more comfortable

Slept on the sofa bed at OKW last year. First night, it wasn't too bad. After the last, I really didn't want to ever sleep in a sofa bed again! However, the reason I was on it was because I broke my ankle during the vacation and had to keep it elevated. Maybe my discomfort was due to not being able to shift my weight around much. I do remember having the initial impression that the sofa bed was better than others I have used in the past.

HTH!

I've slept in the OKW pull-outs a number of times since we usually let our guests have the bedrooms. I'm an early riser, anyway. I've had no problems at OKW, but felt that the ones at BCV were not quite as comfortable, though certainly not intolerable.

Well, I am definitely in the minority here, but I have slept on the sofa beds at BCV (last May) and HH (several times) and I thought they were quite comfortable. Had no problem with them at all. I think if you had to share one with someone else, there might be a problem spacewise, but I slept like the proverbial log when I used them.

My mother really likes the pull-outs at OKW -- she uses them a lot because she reads late into the night and is an earlier riser, so doesn't want to bother my dad. My best friend and her DH slept on a pull-out for 7 nights at VWL and were very comfortable (we paid DVC for the weeknights, they paid cash for the weekends -- we offered two switch rooms when the weekend came, but they said they were really quite comfortable on the pull-out and didn't want to switch).

As for BCV, we have friends that go down every year with their family and they always sleep on the pull-out. They were VERY unhappy with the BCV pull-out and her family wouldn't stay there again for that reason. However, they really like the OKW and BWV pull-outs.

I hope this helps!

My friend and I shared a pullout in the BWV last year and we were fine. (we were both 18) We both slept straight through the night with no problems. I have had more trouble sleeping in a bed in another hotel then I did on the pullout in the BWV.

Most resorts have bed boards if need. They can really help with the pullouts. I don't know if DVC has them but I'd ask if you perceive a problem. Good luck.

I slept on the sofabed at BWV and it was very comfortable. I haven't slept on a sofabed at any of the others. However, I have taken a nap on the love seat at OKW and if you are small and tired enough, this is comfortable too!:D

For some reason, (based on comments in this thread about BCV sleeper sofa comfort, combined with the infamous reports of BCV thermostat issues) I am now left with an image that if I stayed at BCV and used the sofa bed, it would be like living that episode of "Seinfeld" when Elaine used the sofabed-from-hell at Jerry's folks place and there was no A/C.

(Tell me, was there a "bar" smack dab in the middle of the bed that made it uncomfy??) :)

Ever since I saw that show, I can't seem to bring myself to try a sofa bed, nor subject a family member or guest to one. I just keep thinking about some big fat "bar" pressing into my spine all night long ...youwch. Maybe that episode was created by DVC folks in an effort to boost 2br usage, or by air mattress mfgs?

I haven't tried this but....our DVC guide told us that he takes the mattress off of the pull-out and then closes the pull-out back into a sofa. Then he moves the coffee table, and places the mattress on the floor in front of the sofa. His son sleeps on the mattress and his daughter sleeps on the sofa. No more bar in the back and no more "you're sleeping on my side" arguements. He added that it's very simple to do - it only takes a minute. Sounds like it might work.

Bob - that's a great idea for the brother/sister or two teens sharing the pull out dilemma! DS wanted to bring a friend this trip, but I know that they would rather take turns sleeping on the couch/mattress on the floor than sleeping together - some mornings I wake up here and even find a sleep-over friend sleeping soundly scrunched up on the love seat, so how bad could sleeping on the couch be? - thanks for posting that solution!:smooth:

That was a funny Seinfeld episode! :p

At OKW, I don't feel any "bar" at all....unlike our older pull-out at home which I've used a few times.

At BCV, I didn't feel a bar either, but I wasn't as comfortable. It didn't keep me awake all night, but the comfort level was not as high. I wasn't all hunched over, though! ;)

I have a fussy back and I usally don't do too bad on the sofa beds. If you can manage it, put just ONE adult on this bed. That will help a lot, as the person can maneuver around and get comfy. Two people make this a lot harder. When I shared one with my daughter, who is only about 65 pounds, I felt all night like I was rolling into the center and I did have a backache in the morning. When I slept on it alone, I was fine.
