~How TWO trips became...who knows? ~ It's a TRIP! and an upgrade.... 4/22

I am loving your updates! I think it would be neat to see it snow in Orlando if you were dressed properly. Great job on Buzz! :wizard:

I looked like an Eskimo!

Love the mini TR. Can't wait to see the photos to go along with them! I hope you are staying warm!

I will definitely post some! In fact...I should upload them soon to my computer!

Ohh..I love the mini-TR too!! Can't wait to hear all about it when you get back! Hooray for LTT having characters..I thought they had stopped that now with CP back open? Or maybe CP hasn't opened back up yet..I'm clueless... :lmao: Very cool having an empty MK as your playground though! I'm so glad you're having such a good time..minus the transportation fun, anyway!

That was such a fun character breakfast! :goodvibes

CP was not open yet.

The MK was SOOOOO empty that morning.

Maroo!

Glad you made it there safe and sound!

Ya gotta love what a little sleet and snow will do to the folks in Florida! :p

Nice mini update! I can't wait to hear all about it!!! :goodvibes

Man...it was crazy! Those poor people walking/running in the marathon weekend activities...it was so cold!

Cant believe it's snowing/sleeting in FL! Craziness.

Totally crazy! A sight (and sounds) to behold!

A quick update!

I am home!

However, I have sort of come home to a mess. Since I was not going to be here for the supposed "ice" we were going to get, I did not prepare with any extra food, etc.

And now we are having pretty major issues here in the city.

Evidently over 70 water pipes (the big ones carrying city water) have burst and we now have large parts of the city that have NO water. And those of us that do have water have to boil it in order to cook, drink or even brush our teeth with it.

This has caused the schools and public buildings to close.

So far our clinic remains open and we have water here that is not city water - but I have no idea if I have water at home. We will see.

I was not planning on doing any formal trip report from this last trip...but I will post some pics this week and give you guys a mini TR - which will basically be an introduction and provide pre-trip information for the March trip...because this trip will affect that one!

Welcome Home! I'm so happy to hear you made it back safe and sound! What a mess to come home to though!

So how is this trip going to affect that trip?

I can't wait to see some pics of WDW with 'real' snow!

:scared: @ coming home to a mess, I'm sorry you're having to deal with that, hon! I can't wait to see the piccies :) Eeks @ it affecting your trip, but you didn't say "cancel" so I'm hoping we can still meet up with you!

What a mess it sounds like! Yikes!

I so totally can't wait to SEE and hear all about it!! Need pix!!

Empty sounds heavenly! 9! times in a row is out-of-control amazing.

Hope things get fixed very soon. I know very well what a PIA no water is!

You guys are killin' me! :rotfl2:

Ok...so...before I give you guys a heart attack thinking that I have canceled my trip or something...let me fill you in on some things that I learned during this trip about the Half Marathon aspect of our March trip...

I had originally planned to really hit the parks and do some touring with Lisa - hitting a different park every day and really trying to hit a lot of stuff that we missed on Lauren's Wish Trip.

BUT...My feet hurt this weekend. Walking around the parks - standing in line - doing the things we do on a Disney trip...I don't know about you, but my feet hurt after a long day at the parks.

And I went to bed the night before all of my friends were going to be doing the Half and thought, "There is NO way I could walk 13.1 more miles tomorrow!"

I guess that should be a DUH moment...but it was an epiphany to me!

So...we are going to have to really sit out and figure out what Lisa wants to accomplish and narrow down the list. We will also focus more on limiting our steps and not crisscrossing the whole park as we tour. I won't be running to Toy Story to get Fast Passes and then running to RnR to ride.

I have also decided that I have to train a good bit more OUTSIDE and in the ELEMENTS...in the rain, in the cold...I have to force myself to get out there - because I would not have made it in the weather they had...sleet and snow. :sad2:

Welcome home but sorry it is such a mess! Jordan wants to know why you came home so fast. :) Looking forward to the mini-Tr and more info on the March trip.

Mary-
Good Ideas!

But I will say this.. IF it is snowing in WDW the first weekend in March, I am going to blame you for bringing it up!!!!!! :rotfl:

It is going to be 78 on marathon day!!!! I'll be in DHS!!!! :yay:

Ha! It was a really short trip! Say hello to sweet Jordan for me!

When are you getting back to the World?

Oh yeah...there better not be snow in March!

Welcome home! Glad to hear you had a good time.

I am a bit blind and spacey and just saw your ticker and new TR ....I am so signing up for that one!

Welcome Home! Everyone's feet hurt after a day of touring at Disney. It is easy to walk over 20 miles in one day of touring. However, I know that you will get out there and you will do great during your half marathon in March!

Whew . . . you had me worried!

I'm so glad you won't be cancelling or altering your trip dates!:thumbsup2

I have every confidence that you will do fine in the half in March - you alwasy seem to achieve whatever goal you set.

We always feel like we've walked a marathon after each Disney day as well. That's the main reason why we still have never made it to a single rope drop despite planning for 1 or 2 each trip. That extra half hour of sleep or even just not having to rush in the morning makes a big difference for us.

How's the water situation down there today?

Thanks! :) Gosh...I don't think...I hope...that I have never walked 20 miles at Disney in one day! Whoa!

Nope!! :)

You are so sweet....I have my doubts....

Aw man...I LOVE me some rope drops! I have pictures of the one that I attended that I will post on here tonight or tomorrow. :)

How's the water situation down there today?

The water...oh, the water.

Water is a basic need in life. I had no idea how basic until it was taken away. :sad2:

Schools, businesses, restaurants...even some hospital clinics...either have NO water or have a boil water notice (which covers the whole city)...so most of those places are closed.

I have no water at my condo...so I am going to stay with Lauren until we get it back. I really need to do laundry and being able to use a restroom that flushes...well...that is helpful, too. :)

I had filled my bathtub with some water at home before I left town...because I needed it after Katrina to flush and boil to cook, etc...once the power came on, we still had no water for a bit...although this time has been longer than Katrina. We are going on our second full day without water.

We also have no water at work. We canceled most of our clinic today and tomorrow. So...maybe I get to go home early...which would be nice since I need to drive out of the city to Lauren's house.

You would think I live in a third world country.

Really...Jackson, MS is a regular city...It is crazy.

Ha! It was a really short trip! Say hello to sweet Jordan for me!

When are you getting back to the World?

Will do!

Well, funny you should ask because I am working on that very thing. As you might remember, Jason (DH) is not a big WDW fan. He enjoys it but does not have the WDW fever like DD and I do.

Thanks to pacrosby I am really interested in doing Universal/IOA in December. I think Jordan is tall enough for most of the rides now and I want to do Seuss Landing before she gets too much older. We  the Grinch so December seems great. DH seems on board with this idea. Now, of course, what I have not detailed for DH is that if we are going to go to FL we might as well go for a week and from what I have read Univ/IOA only takes about three days so whatever shall we do for the other four days???? I know! WDW here we come! Of course, this trip is not definite - I promised DH we would go to an all-inclusive in Feb/Mar for a few days (his idea of fun not mine) and I am not sure we can swing two big vacations in one year (since the house we bought in Sept still needs some things like a $7000 furnace). But we are going to try! So should you have an AP burning a hole in your pocket keep December in mind. I would love to hook up with you and Liesa for part of your trip but the timing is not good for me - back to school and Jordan's birthday are both that time of year so it is usually crazy for us.

Sorry about the hijack but you asked. ;)

You (and anyone else) is welcome anytime to talk about whatever you want on my pre-trippie! :) Well...within reason. ;)

I will probably be at Disney for the 2nd weekend of December. They usually have the annual meets that weekend and I am hoping they will do the same this time!

Universal sounds like fun, too! Hmm....

Do you guys like Harry Potter?

I'm so shocked that Jackson's situation has not made national news (at least that I have seen). What a disaster down there! I read a couple of articles online and see that you are expecting MORE freezing temps tonight? Geez! Where is that global warming when you need it?

I am heartbroken that your clinic had to be cancelled . . . . I hope it is up and running again soon so those patients can recieve treatment.

Thanks! Jason seems on board with the Universal and Disney trip in December so as long as the finances hold out I think we are good to go!:banana: It would be awesome if we were there at the same time. We like Harry Potter but are not big fans - Jordan has decided that she does not want to watch the movies because they are too scary. This is the same child that rode TOT at age 4, loves EE and watched the Chronicles of Narnia but thinks Harry Potter is too scary. :confused3

I read somewhere that the second week of December is awesome with low crowds - was that on here? I can't remember but need to confirm that.

Looking forward to more details on your freezing trip and the one coming up!

So, how are things today? You told me yesterday water is "mostly" back on. Are you in a "flushing way" today?? :lmao:
