~How TWO trips became...who knows? ~ It's a TRIP! and an upgrade.... 4/22

20 Days and counting!!!

Twenty days left my friends! Just 20! In three weeks I will actually be IN DISNEY WORLD! :goodvibes

Day 2 plans...

Day of the Week: Sunday
Park: AK
Breakfast: in room?
Lunch: Flame Tree BBQ or Pizzafari
Dinner: Boma
Snack?? Any hints here? Maybe a lemon slush?

We hope to make this by rope drop. Safari FP and let me do EE until I get sick of it or the line gets too long...whichever comes first. This is the one ride I really want to do that Sharon may not want to ... but she will just have to shop...or be on "camera" duty. ;)

We plan to do an EARLY lunch to miss the crowds.

As with most of this trip - it is going to be relaxed. We will fit in Nemo and Lion King, but should have no trouble with this. And the Safari.

And see what other things we can check out, too!!

Any Animal Kingdom thoughts? What interesting things can we do in AK that you guys have tried?

Once we finish at AK we will head over to AKL and check out the Lodge before it gets dark. Then after supper, we will go back out there and check it out in the dark. We plan to find some of those night vision goggles, too!

As far as later night plans...depends on what we got done the day before. Maybe Illuminations? Spectro? MK has EMH, but we will probably avoid?

WooHoo for 20 days!!!!!:banana::banana:We're at 110 and I'm getting excited - how can you even sleep at night?!?!

Unfortunately, AK is the park I know least about. It always ends up being a short day or 1/2 day for some reason. :guilty:

When you go see the Nemo Show, try to sit on the inside near the part of the stage that goes up the middle. When they are twirling the sea animals around during the show, they go right over your head - it's MAGICAL!

Your plan for EE is exactly the same as mine! My favorite ride in all of WDW!:yay:

Is this not a Fantasmic show night? If you have to choose between Illuminations and Spectro, I'd go with Illuminations because of the crowds. MK will be busy with EMH and the last thing you want to do is be waiting 1+ hours for a bus after getting up early enough for rope drop.

Just had a thought - 20 days puts you in WDW when my 90 days for ADRs hits - what am I going to do without you?? :confused3:rotfl2:

Lol

Yeah...I am having NO problem sleeping these days! I guess I am still trying to catch up! :)

This going to get me kicked off the DIS - again - but I don't care for Fantasmic. :rolleyes1  :scared1: :rolleyes1

Oh no!! I won't be here when you make ADRs...

uh...is that in MY 90 day window?!?!?!??!??! :scared1:

Lol

This going to get me kicked off the DIS - again - but I don't care for Fantasmic. :rolleyes1  :scared1: :rolleyes1

I have heard a few people say this. So with this being our first trip a few of us are going to skip Fantasmic! and go to Magic Kingdom's extra hours instead :rolleyes1 My Mom said she might go to Fantasmic! or might go with us..lol..I cheated and watched it on Youtube and to me it seems like a lot of projection, sooo we might try to fit it in on our last night. But, if not there is always next time!

Maroo, your trip is coming up so fast!!!

And a resort change, you sneaky devil you. :goodvibes

I don't have any big suggestions or recommendations right now, just to say I'm really excited that things are looking up.

And congrats on the newer, faster computer.

When we got a new ATM at the bank (you know I'm a teller, right?) I called it the AquaScum2000. Like in Nemo.

Perhaps you need to name your new computer. ;)

Wow on the resort change :thumbsup2

:cheer2::woohoo::yay: 20 days :dance3::yay:

AK- the only thing I know is there is some hidden away back path somewhere that leads to I think the 3D bugs life or something like that, I read it on bellasoleil's TR, beautiful path, but that is all I know

Can't wait for the restaurant reviews from this day as those are places I'd like to eat.

Woo Hoo!!!

This is GREAT information. I checked out the snack thread yesterday and if I want a funnel cake, I will just have to get one at MK, huh!!

So...care to share the best snacks at MK, AK and DHS while you are at it? You seem the wealth of information...

Not that you are a planner or anything...:rolleyes1

Sunshine Seasons - when you check out the lines - like they have a sandwich place, an Asian place, ... as you slide your tray down to see what they have, then you wander pack and think about it - DO NOT BE FOOLED by the desserts in between (in the cooler pre packaged!) Go ALL THE WAY to the last station = BAKERY station!! Desserts YUM!! (Yes, dh missed that and just picked up a prepackaged chocolate cake - not that there is anything wrong with that!! )

Boma - Great Plans - we did it that way - but we couldnt fit in both Lion King Nemo, and Safari and EE and the Dinosaur ride!! So do be flexible - because you want to enjoy all that AK has to offer as well - Its Tough to be a Bug is an AWESOME show - and there is a nifty secret path back there... We usually get a fresh frozen Lemon snack - its down by where they do the Bird Show - we have to do the Bird show - we get the snack then wait for the show to begin, we snack on that awesome lemony goodness!! (most places have the pre frozen Minute Maid Lemon ice - and that's good too)

Boma - we did enjoy the animals outside - but honestly - if you do the safari, dont carve out more than 15 min at AK - we walked over and around the pool thinking surely there was more paths to check out - nope...

We loved Boma - the drinks come with the DP - so ask about that juice drink they serve at breakfast - we found it to be really yummy!! I read a report that they've downsized the buffet - not as good - so I look forward to your review - I heard they have a sirloin type steak roast instead of the prime rib!! and desserts are individual, not in that big bowl thingy! (but their desserts are unique and really good!!)

after Boma we went to the PM emh park and rode Toy Story Mania instead of looking for the night vision goggles - it just pays to be flexible!!

In AK - Flame tree may be good (I LOVE me some BBQ) but I dont like that I have to sit outside and sweat! a/c is very important to me so we ate at Pizzafari - I'll post pix if I can find it - we went all the way back in a back back room, it was lovely and quiet!

I know I talk too much!

gotta go help DD!!

Well, dd no longer has RED streaks - all covered up! :goodvibes

Snacks in each park? - that's for you to find out!! :goodvibes

per the DIS -

MK - over the bridge to Frontierland (going to Hall of Presidents ) there is the snack shack that has the Funnel Cakes - The Bridge near Crystal Palace that's where you find Aloha Island and get the Dole Whip Float! (one year we got the Funnel Cake - split it, while watching the show in front of the castle - you can sit at the tables there and see the show! Then we walked over for our float and split that!)

DHS - We get a fresh fruit snack or the frozen lemonade (same machine as the one in AK btw!) down on the way to Beauty and the Beast show -

AK - frozen lemonade!
They also have some great ice cream snacks too!!

Epcot - there arent enough snack credits! LOL but everyone goes to the France Pastry Shop - and I truly love Japan's Kaki Gori (snow cones! I dont like to mix my flavors, so I go for red!) Germany has the pretzels, Norway the School Bread used to be a "must do" but since they changed it - not so much...

It IS amazing! So amazing in fact that I definitely hope we get to meet again! Because I am not sure I was not sleep deprived? :confused3

Thank you so much for posting on that. For the first time I really don't feel like our MAW family is being supported...most of our kids tend to have a LOT of support around them before they ever get to our site...but it doesn't seem like they are getting a lot of posts over there and many of them are from other websites...so I hope we can really show her the love.

FP for Soarin is the very top first thing to do when we get to Epcot! FP it and ride it! Hopefully from rope drop.

You were fine but we should definitely meet again.

As far as later night plans...depends on what we got done the day before. Maybe Illuminations? Spectro? MK has EMH, but we will probably avoid?

Ok...I have lots of AK and AKL thoughts. We stayed at AKL and have spent a whole day at AK every trip (so three days).

If you get to AK for rope drop, walk right to the safari and ride. There is no need for a fast pass if you are there at rope drop. If you miss rope drop, then get a FP for later.

Nemo does not have as many shows typically as FOTLK so pick the time for that if you definitely want to see it and get in line early. It is a bit easier to get into FOTLK and there are more times - the last show does not seem to be very crowded.

The trails are interesting but it is no big deal if you miss them. Sharon might enjoy walking through the EE queue with you - there is a lot to look at in it if I remember right. If you haven't seen Devine yet you should try to see her.

As for food, we like doing a late breakfast at Tusker House but I would probably pick Pizzafari over Flame Tree BBQ. The other option is that new picnic thing they are doing.

As for AKL, walking around inside and out is really neat but there are not that many animals to look at so it probably won't take more than 45 minutes or so for inside and out. The night vision thing is not very good. When we were there they had one pair of night vision goggles and everyone had to share. They do storytelling every night around the fire pit which is neat to do depending on what time your reservation at Boma is.

Did I bore you yet???

Lol

Yeah...I am having NO problem sleeping these days! I guess I am still trying to catch up! :)

You don't like Fantasmic!!! I love Fantasmic! Not as much as Wishes but definitely better than Illuminations. Though we skipped Illuminations the last two trips so I do need to give it another chance.

I have an apology to make.

To all of the people that have land, homes, friends and loved ones in the Orlando area...

Sharon and I have a history. A history that I have told a few people in passing...but have never detailed for you guys.

Sharon lived in Jackson for several years, got a divorce and eventually moved to FL to be near her family.

Since she has been in FL, we have tried to find time for me to get down there to visit.

The first time was in the summer of 2004. But there was a hurricane headed to FL and I was too chicken to head to her house (in the Panhandle). That hurricane missed her and was no big deal.

The second time we attempted my visit, another hurricane came around - IVAN. Her area was hit hard by Ivan and I was glad I had not come to visit. It was then that Sharon said she would ALWAYS evacuate!

So...we tried again...for the third time. And DENNIS shows up. Now, I remember Hurricane Dennis, because where we lived there was quite a bit of talk about New Orleans and what would happen if Dennis hit. There was a point that they were talking about evacuating. And there was NO WAY I was going to travel to FL in that evacuation. Dennis missed New Orleans (by a hair) and I was glad I stayed home.

So...a fourth time...and I was quoted to have said, "Come hell or high water, I AM COMING TO FLORIDA!" Well, I suppose you can guess what happened. :sad1: Katrina. A horrible, horrible event in our nation's history.

So we decided...no more visits. We will plan no more.

I have seen Sharon twice since then. But both times we have not "planned" it in advance. Once I was in town with my friends and we had supper. The second time I was on my way to Disney in February and called her to grab a quick bite while I was on the road.

So...now we have planned a trip. In the MIDDLE of Hurricane season. And I really thought we were in the clear. That surely there would be no storms this time. :sad2:

And I turn on the TV to see Ana, Bill and a third one churning. And I didn't even laugh. It is so not funny. Not after Katrina.

But I don't care. We are coming to Orlando. Those storms will not stop us.

So...if you plan to be there around Labor Day. Bring a poncho.

Well Maroo, look at it this way. There is plenty of time for those three storms to be gone by the time you go. Of course.......who knows what will be behind them. :upsidedow

I've only been in March and October so its never too hot, but Flame Tree BBQ is my pick for lunch at AK. The pulled pork sandwich is :thumbsup2:thumbsup2. DW

Right near Y&Y there is the Y&Y Beverage Company. You can get a different beers from Asia and they even have frozen drinks too! DW always remembers where this is because she needs her drink! She either had a Yack Attack (Mango Daiquiri, Bacardi Light Rum, and Wildberry Flavors) or a Everest Avalanche (Bacardi Light Rum, mixed with Banana, Stawberry, and Mango Flavors) I can't remember! LOL

Oh, Maroo! It sounds as though you two have had a fair streak of bad fortune.

Don't worry! It's so likely that those storms will change paths, head elsewhere, not be as bad as originally predicted that I wouldn't even give it a second thought. I've actually been to Disney during hurricane season many times, and actually once when they shut down the parks.

This was actually our very first trip with our DS, he was eight or nine months old at the time! We just stayed in our room, and they had Disney movies playing on a channel they set up specifically. Mom braved the elements (which really was a very rainy, windy day to us) and went to the food court for provisions, and later on, when the storm had passed, the parks were open later to compensate.

There was another occasion, actually, I think I was pregnant and a huge hurricane was set to hit Florida.

I've never been one to cancel my trips due to the weather, and do you know, it actually bypassed Florida and headed elsewhere, into the ocean?

I guess my long and rather convulated point is have poncho, will travel. :thumbsup2

what my dear is disney without a poncho? i have only been once when it was not hurricane season. we have been thru tropical storm jerry and tropical storm fay. as a matter of fact i even made up a poncho song about 10 years ago. i will sing it for you so you can use it too.
"life is lovely in a poncho
life is dandy in a poncho
i look like the head honcho
in my lil yellow poncho
what would you do?
if you were stuck with clear or blue
would you go boohoo boohoo
the colors make me gag
you look like a garbage bag
do do do do do do do"

and if you had not by now realized what a nutcase i am now you know
my family cant stand when the ponchos come out because they know i will start singing:scared1:

Hmm.... a name. I will have to think on that one! :)

Yeah...I am sneaky. I didn't want to take anything away from praying for Ra!

Who, by the way, is doing GREAT! We all went to church today AND had enough energy to go out to eat. She is playing on her computer and I am playing on mine! :) Life is good!

Wow on the resort change

:yay: 20 days :dance3:

How many days am I now? 19? 18? Gosh, I guess I should go look!

I am a v.e.r.y slow trip report writer! So, if I don't get to them fast enough, let me know and I can give you a review!

Sunshine Seasons - when you check out the lines - like they have a sandwich place, an Asian place, ... as you slide your tray down to see what they have, then you wander pack and think about it - DO NOT BE FOOLED by the desserts in between (in the cooler pre packaged!) Sandy...your hints are AWESOME!!! :) I have down for us to possibly go to EMH at the MK...if we get "bored" (that is what I wrote??) at the AKL. I will be back there in December.

And we won't be doing Dinosaur...so that should save us a little time!

You were fine but we should definitely meet again.

yeah...last time someone "walked through the queue with me" she ended up riding space mountain and screaming my name the whole time!

And no, you never bore me!

Great hints...especially on Nemo! We just HAVE to see that...and I want good seats...so I hope to get there early. :thumbsup2

How is your sweet daughter?? (Can I say her name online? I need to know that before I post the first part of my Magic Meets TR - I am doing a TR for that!!)

Well Maroo, look at it this way. There is plenty of time for those three storms to be gone by the time you go. Of course.......who knows what will be behind them. :upsidedow

This is very true!

Can you believe how fast Claudette creeped up on us? :confused3 It's like Rachel said, "Since when does C come before A?"

She's back alright! :yay:

I've only been in March and October so its never too hot, but Flame Tree BBQ is my pick for lunch at AK. The pulled pork sandwich is :thumbsup2:thumbsup2. DW

LOL

I like the ribs at FT, but I also love the pizza at Pizzafari!

Neither of us drink much alcohol. I am not sure she drinks at all. But I would be sick if I tried to drink alcohol in the heat. I am a wimp!

Oh, Maroo! It sounds as though you two have had a fair streak of bad fortune.

Definitely!

I am all about going...I don't care if there is a storm or not. Just more memories to add to life! We had a BLAST in the rain on Lauren's wish trip. I think it is all in how you look at it.

But I do feel bad for the poor people who chose the same week as us to travel!

Did you like how Claudette just slid right past Orlando! :cool2:

Ok. . .that hurricane thing is a little scary! Though I agree with everyone else, everything will be fine but if not grab a poncho and remember that you are in WDW!

Jordan is good. Feel free to use her name, talk about her and post photos if you want to. Only good things though! J/K Feel free to tell how she couldn't stop pestering Miss Mary and Muffin. Though when you left and she was upset about not seeing Muffin I did tell her you would let her talk to Muffin on the phone - I hope you don't mind.

:woohoo::woohoo: Rachel is doing better.:woohoo::woohoo: I am so glad she was felt good enough to go to church. and out to eat.

answers to prayers are SO wonderful!:cool1:

I love the poncho song!:rotfl2: I'm gonna learn it for my next trip. My family will just love me even more.:lmao:
I do understand that Disney is one of the safest places to be during a storm. We were there the October after Katrina. We decided to continue with the trip since it was paid for and we needed a break from all of the destruction when a couple days before we were to leave a storm (tropical I think) was headed for Florida. I asked a couple CMs if we should leave and they said definitly no. We were safer at Disney then anywheres else.

Girl!! Is there anything I could say about Jordan that would not be good??!?! She is PRECIOUS, smart, polite! She is awesome! And you can tell her I said that!

I am hoping to start on my Magic Meets TR this week. I hope to be able to get completely done before I leave for the Sept trip!

You guys can call me anytime! :) I would LOVE to talk to Jordan on the phone! And Muffin does a pretty good job of that, too, actually. She will sometimes whine on command (but let's keep that our secret until after it happens...just in case! ;))

We are so excited about Rachel doing so much better!! :) She is definitely out of the woods. Still struggling with some things...but overall we are very, very pleased with how she is doing!

I wish I could have stayed in Disney for Katrina. What an awful month.

Well, I missed a whole weekend of amazing posts and discussion. It's like looking at a golden bracelet studded with diamonds and other precious gems!

--Hurray that Ra is better!! :yay:
--You switched resorts AGAIN- naw, not maroo!:confused3
--Super fun hints and tip Sandy and Jen!! WTG!
--I'd say bring a couple of ponchos! Ours tore in several places when we went (getting in and out of rides with them is doesn't do them any good) and we were glad we had extras.
--I'm torn too about where to eat at AK. So, here's the deal, since they all sound good (I've only eaten at FT), I"m just going with the plan to eat at whatever place is closest to where I get hungry.

I just looked at your ticker!!! You are soooooooo close now. That means you are closer to seeing what you might score for our trip, as well as having a super fun time with Sharon!! I am excited!
