I need your help if you can!

I am going on a cruise that embarks in Athens Oct 10...sails Oct 11.
Leaving Toronto (Canada) on the 9th and trying to figure my next connection?? If I arrive into Heathrow I can connect to Easyjet but have to get to either Luton or Gatwick. Which is the better choice?? I would have approx 6 hours between flights.

Upon my return..I will be embarking in Barcelona. Again, trying to choose my routing...Are there any other airlines that service these cities that you know of?

Any help appreciated!!!!

The obvious airline would be BA to be honest but booking this close to the date may mean higher prices.

Personally I'd stick to Heathrow for onward travel. Travel to either Luton and Gatwick from here would not be great especially with luggage :guilty:

Though Luton and Gatwick are not far from Heathrow (especially in Canadian terms) with the amount of traffic around London it can take 2 to 3 hours to travel by coach / car (I live near Luton and am 45 miles from Heathrow - setting off one morning at 6.00am I arrived at 9.30am). The other option is using the train, but this would mean travelling into central London and out again, and as said previously, with all your luggage you could find it somewhat inconvenient.

If you really had to switch airports I would say go with Heathrow-Gatwick as they are both south of London....Luton is round above London (i believe)

Gatwick is to the south of Heathrow and Luton to the north. With both there is the possibility of heavy traffic, depending upon the time and day of travel.

A friend of mine recently flew into Heathrow and caught a bus to Luton airport and we were impressed with the service. The bus service is also available between Heathrow and Gatwick. Here's the link: http://www.nationalexpress.com/destinations/airports.cfm?t=air

Hope this helps :)

Hi minnie56

Is there any reason why you want to connect through the UK? The luggage situation is still not good here (especially for connecting flights through Heathrow - where a lot of luggage just isn't making it). Also, unless the hand luggage restrictions are eased by then, you would be restricted to the current BAA hand luggage sizes when flying through Heathrow (see http://www.baa.com). Many travellers who can avoid going through Heathrow/UK are avoiding doing so at the moment...

Both Air Canada and Lufthansa have a number of flights that connect through Frankfurt - probably a lot better an airport to transit in...

Thank you everyone for all the great advice!!! Could be one very long day!

I can connect through Frankfurt (or anywhere), but am finding the flights that connect from other cities to Athens and from Barcelona very costly! I really would prefer avoiding LHR if I could :thumbsup2

Depending on when you are returning... looking at expedia.ca , there are a number of options via Frankfurt returning on 25th October (I don't know when your return is, so that is off the top of my head) for just under 1100 Canadian$ per person (you may have to connect in Montreal THEN Frankfurt on the way out).

Is $1100 (Canadian) expensive? That's about £525 in GB money, seems reasonable for a short nottice scheduled flight to me, but I guess that you might be able to get lower...

Ba fly direct from Heathrow to Athens but Barcelona goes back to Gatwick you can do a split ticket with BA and quotes are around £120 for good times, which is C$250, or thereabouts.

Have a look at BA they may be a good option.

I did see those flights Clair L..they're not bad and the LGW on the way back only is a bonus!! Considering those...

Boo Boo Too...(cute name) I am flying on an Air Canada pass as far as either LHR/FRA/MUN/ etc..it's the connection it gets sticky for and connecting to a cruise, well..just my luck to miss the ship!

Appreciate all the tips!!
