Morning to all

Happy New Year and Good Luck on making 2005 your year!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Went to a new doctor over the holidays and his scale was a REAL WAKEUP call for me so.........

Have started the New Year on a positive note and really going to watch my portion control and emotional eating. Also EXERCISE!!

Have gotten some yoga tapes but want something else to trade off with. I also have a treadmill which I dusted off.

Does anyone own the Walk Away the Pounds DVD and if so how do you like them?

Anyone use a DVD which stresses weights?

Any other suggestions?

Need to keep moving downward!!

Thanks!! Group Hug and Hang in There :grouphug:

OHHHHHHHHHHHHH.....almost forgot with my arthritic knees - one being diagnosed unstable (more testing on that) I have to be careful with what I do. No step or anything that will strain or make the knee move in too many directions.

Thanks

Hmm,
I was going to say I love the FIRM. But if you have trouble with your knees that wouldn't be for you. They do have some upper body tapes with no step that are awesome. WATP's is great for begnining till you get into the swing of things. It does get too easy after a while though. The thing with the FIRM and the step is at the beginning it's very tough on the knees, but after a while it gets easier and your muscles actually get stronger around your knees. This is actually why the knees get sore in the first place. When you build those muscles they get big so quickly and they rub till other muscles get bigger as well. At least that's roughly what happens. I read up on it when I had some problems with my knees when I started.

Good luck!

Sorry, I don't have any advice on tapes, but I wanted to say I'm with you - starting TODAY!

I woke up early & started using the eliptical that DH got me for my early December birthday, did some situps & some arm exercises with my little weights I have....all while DH took his shower this morning. I am feeling really good this morning....not my usual yawning, drained self.

I really hope I can stick with this!

The FIRM tapes are really good, but hard on the knees. Not that they damage them or anything, but if your knees are weak (like mine), the tapes will KILL them. I went to a doctor and found out I had nothing wrong with my knees--the tendons surrounding them/supporting them are just very unstable (weak). I used to FIRM years ago and it wasn't too much of a problem. I guess my knees have gotten worse and they really hurt. I just can't get past the pain.

The WATP tapes are nice, but I seem to really get used to them easily and then they don't do much.

I have a CRUNCH: Pilates video that is really good. It is pretty cheap at Wal-Mart. All the "CRUNCH" series usually get a good rating.

kimwim8--what kind of elliptical did you get? We are looking at one but the "recommended" ones are around $2500. I've read that it is really not worth getting a cheaper one.

I would say elipitcal has minimal stress on joints, much less then treadmills. Also you could try pilates I was even able to do that for a little bit while I had a broken foot (thank god its almost back to normal!).
