How to work kiosks?

The last couple of days I have read several mentions to people not having a clue how to work the kiosks. For someone who has not been to Disney since the legacy FP days. What is the kiosk process and what could happen using the kiosk that would result in the assumption that people don't know how to use them?

Thanks!

A. Hold MagicBand or Park Ticket to Mickey-head Touch-point.
B. Page will open on screen with possible FP+ choices.
C. You pick your attraction and time.

You can do so all at once for everyone linked to your MDE account.

There are also CMs to assist you at most kiosks.
(In fact, some CMs prefer to operate the kiosk it for you.)

I don't know how anyone doesn't know how to work them. It's very similar to selecting fast passes on the computer.

If you are linked with everyone in your party and have the ability to select fast passes for everyone your with then all you do is scan your magic band. It'll come up with the names in your party, make sure everyone's checked, then there's a list of available rides/shows. Select the one you want then it gives you a list of times if more than one is available. Select what time you want and that's it.

We were there 2 weeks ago. Most FP kiosk areas had a Cast Member assigned to every terminal, and some kiosk areas had extra CM with tablets. At the start of the trip, I must have looked confused, they would ask me what I wanted, and completely do everything for me. By the end of the week, CM could tell I didn't need help because I would go right up and start booking it myself.

The kiosks themselves weren't difficult to use, some people are just clueless. We saw one lady at MK consulting a park map at the kiosk, maybe it was her first time to Disney World, she had no idea what the rides were, or where they were, instead of figuring that out beforehand, she waited until she got to the kiosk, and it took her forever to pick what FP she wanted. The other thing that would slow things down is when you select one ride and the first return time is 3 hours away, so you check another ride, and that's 2 hours away, and then you need to pull out your phone and call someone and have a long discussion about which one to get. You only need one person at the kiosk to make FP for whole group, but I'd always try to bring at least one other person with me just in case we couldn't get our first choice.

The FP CMs I talked to were all very helpful and knew what they were talking about. We had a large group, and on one occasion we were trying to get a 4th FP despite some people never using their 3rd FP and other people holding open-ended FP because a ride was down, it couldn't be done all at once. CM took over and got it all straightened out.

I was hoping it would be rather simple but started second guessing with what I have been reading.

Please correct me if I am wrong but, if we go and want to get a certain FP but they don't have the time we want and need to consult with others in our group not at the kiosk....couldn't I just book what comes up then adjust using my phone or the mobile app? I know I can not book the 4th on my phone but once the 4th is booked can I still adjust with it. Seems it would be better to just accept what comes up on the kiosk, walk away then tweak as needed?

One quick note - it seemed to work quicker if you used a fingernail to touch the screen rather than a fingertip.

We had a problem the first day modifying the 4th FP on the app. After 3rd FP at HS, went to kiosk, 2 of us wanted FP for RnRC after dinner, others were all going to Epcot. It was our first day, CM did it for us, but rushed through it and made FP for all 7 of us for RnRC. At dinner, I wasn't sure what would happen to our RnRC FP if my brother gets to Epcot and wants to get FP at kiosk, so I tried to modify it on the phone app. But you can't delete a FP on the app, and you can't remove people from a FP. So I tried to move everyone else off the RnRC FP to a different ride, but it got screwed up and the app was no longer displaying all 7 of us. We decided that from then on, if we needed to change a 4th FP, we would do it at a kiosk instead of on the buggy app.

Also, over the course of 9 days, I'm guessing the FP we made at the kiosks only showed up in the app 80-90% of the time. We had one day at MK where it wasn't busy, we got a ton of additional FP, I went into the app at the end of the day to see how many we got, and noticed that several of them weren't listed. Can't modify the FP on the app if it isn't listed.

Yes.
Once the 4th FP+ is booked, you can modify everything (including the time and the ATTRACTION) via your mobile device.
