How to waitlist partial availability?

Let's say you need a 7-day stay, but 2 days in the middle of that week are missing / full. Do you choose "wait-list the entire stay" on the online booking? Or do you book 2 partial reservations, first few days and last few days, then wait-list for the middle portion?

Is the later action allowed under the DVC booking rules? If not, what happens when those middle 2 missing days become available but the other days are full / taken by others? Then you will never get everything together, right?

Yeah, I would do this. But if you don't get the middle portion, you may be out of a room. It's easier to get a single night or two vs a whole week. So...I would book some other place that has those missing nights, and waitlist what you want, with the note to cancel the other if you get the waitlist. Or just do a split stay, 3/4 days at one and 3/4 days at another.

I waitlist the days I am missing and then I check periodically also. Last time I was able to piece it together that way. I waitlisted two days. One day opened on the website so I grabbed it and changed my waitlist to just the one remaining day and it cleared.

I am currently stalking the website for October (I screwed up and booked my annual Food/Wine trip the week of my Audit Committee which I can't skip so... )

I would book the two reservations and wait list the days in the middle (separately if you can). The thing to remember is a new reservation for the last part of the trip will require you to wait for that window to open later in the week. You can't book that second reservation when the window opens for the first reservation.

If you're already inside the booking window, then you will be able to book both reservations at once.
