Is this hard?

Is there a way to add the gift cards to my MDE account so they will be stored when I try to pay?

Thanks for any help you can give!

Unfortunately no. You have to type the gift card in as the method of payment when you place the order.

It’s very easy. As mentioned above you add it at time of purchase. I’m not sure how many gift cards you can add? We only ever tried it with one.

I have a tough time understanding why MDE doesn't allow you to store a Disney gift card as a method of payment. It seems like giving people more convenient options as a way to spend money would be a no brainer. Got a gift card. Use it. Got a credit card. Charge it. Got a hotel room. Charge it.

In our case we end up having many gift cards as we purchase them in advance of our trip as a way of preparing for the trip.

One suggestion I've heard is to create a list of all of your gifts cards (even if it's just 1) in a Note on your phone. Then, when it's time to make a purchase you can copy and paste in the gc number from the note rather than stand there and key it.

This is an option I plan to use for our upcoming trip.

I buy a lot of gift cards over the year or so in advance of our trip, but always transfer them to 1 card before the trip so I'm not carting around a whole stack. Then it's just one number to deal with. I do wish the app would let you store it as a method of payment.

An alternate to just making a list of your gift card #s is there are apps you can put on your phone that will store the barcodes/numbers in kind of a wallet you can access easily (and combining them as mentioned above)

I would like to do this! How can I combine the cards?

Got to the Disney Gift Card web site, create an account, add two cards (you can add up to 6) and you can combine the balances. No card can have more than $1000 on it.

I paid for our entire spring break trip this year from 6 cards that I combined from many smaller value cards purchased over the preceding year.

Yes, as Mark said, it’s super easy. Also, while you can only add 6 cards at once, just delete the empty cards and you can keep adding them. This is also good if you lose your card. Just transfer the balance to a new card.

You don't have to add a card to your account in order to transfer the balance to another card. Only the card being transferred TO needs to be on your account. There is a "transfer balance" button on the screen after you log in that allows you to enter the number of a new card and select the card you want to transfer the funds to.

Does that work on the new site? When I click on transfer funds, it wants me to have a card loaded on the site to be able to do it. The FAQ says: "You will need the 16-digit account number and 8-digit Security Code (or EAN) from each Disney Gift Card to add to your account. Select the card you wish to transfer the other cards to, select 'Add Funds from Another Card' and follow the on-screen prompts. " When I select the card I'm transferring to, it says "merge cards" and then let's me merge other cards I've loaded onto the card I'm transferring them to. I'm not saying you're wrong, I just can't figure out how to do it without adding the card, though it asks if I want to delete it after I transfer the entire balance to my other card.

Well, apparently not on the new site now. I couldn't sworn the feature was still there when the new site first came up, but maybe not. Thanks for the info.
