How to use DP-does this make sense?

I got my MYW Free Dining. we will be going prior to the 8/26 and had to book it as a seperate ressie. My question is, when using the dining credits does it make sense to use it for 2 pointer like the Hoopty Do Revue or Spirit of Aloha?

We will be there for 3 nights on the plan, there are 5 of us, so it will be 15 Table Svce. credits. To do the 2 big ones mentioned above I would need 20 TS credits. I was told I could pay the difference -half price.

Anyway, after booking the ADR's I thought that closes me out of any other TS restaurants. We will be staying at POR Riverside.

Now, my thinking is I may niot go to Hoopty or to Spirit if I had to pay that price. I would go to Boatwrights or other TS restaurants though not w/ a dining plan.

Any opinions and experiences are welcome, desired and appreciated. We have never used a dining plan so I am trying to figure the best way to do this.

I would not use the credits for signature place if I were only there for the 3 nights. Especially since you will still have to pay some OOP. I would stick to 1 credit TS's.:hippie:

I agree -- with 3 nights those credits will go fast (even with 5 people). We've done the DDP numerous times and plan ahead to figure out what works best.

If you are asking can you each use two credits for a two-credit meal, then one credit for a different two-credit meal and pay the balance/half-price, no.

I was told by CM that I could pay the difference. I will defiantely have to look into this. Unless it was using the CS options for 3 people in thr group and the other 2 would have to pay OOP. I am not sure. She basically said I have x number of credits to use during the time of my ressie. I don't think she meant that if I have 15 TS credits I can go out and bring 15 people who are not on the plan. She did say I could use a credit of one of the people w/in my checked in group-let's say if DH decided to not go to Spirit of Aloha-I could use his TS credits towards this meal.
She did stress that an actual person would have to check in to get these credits in the first place.

You need to get such things in writing in order to be able to rely on them. Sometimes there is a communications issue, and often the issue is just that the CM is trying so hard to please you that they mislead you about how reliable the information they're giving you is.

That, at least, we know is strictly and explicitly forbidden.

For one of the other folks in his room -- yes, you can definitely do that.

I bet what the CM meant was, if a party of 5 goes to a 2TS meal, that uses 10 credits and leaves them with 5. If they do another 2TS meal, they could use 4 of those 5, and the other 3 people would pay OOP. Then there would be 1 TS left. I am pretty sure they would not allow the party to use the remaining 5 credit, then pay for half of 5 people's meals OOP.

That sounds more like it. She definately seemed to know her stuff. She was very much on the ball w/ everything.

My original thought was to use TS for something like Hoopty Do or Spirit, but I am so used to having a room w/ a full kitchen that all of these meals seemed like too much. I forget that I will not have the access to a kitchen that I can fill up w/ food. This is it. so maybe we will do only one.

Thanks for the input. It is just difficult for me to decide where i would like to eat in August when it is only April and I don't even know what I wm having for lunch tomorrow!

Sounds right to me.

Now having figured all of this out I realize that my 2 sons who are ages 10 and 12 will be considered as adults.

If we go to a TS restaurant and my DS chooses a meal from the kids menu, can I pay OOP for the kids meal and NOT use the adult TS credit for that kids meal?

Yup!

There was a rumor earlier in the year that Disney was going to stop that practice (i.e., that if your room key said 4A,then every meal would cost 4 adult credits), but that rumor has come to nothing, AFIAK.

Subject to change, of course.
