How to use Disney Reward Points

I have about $1000 in reward points and I already paid for the trip. I want to use the points for:

1. memory maker -- can I buy this on-line with reward dollars?
2. tips on meals and any other meal charges (we have the dining plan)
3. adult beverages at parks, dinner or resorts
4. souvenirs

I'd like to take a little as possible to the parks. Can I "charge" everything to my room with the magic band, but pay it with the reward dollars?

Thanks for your help

I don't know about #1, but I assume yes. All the rest are a yes. As long as the location takes plastic (there are still a few carts that don't as far as I know).

You can charge things to your room, just be sure to visit the desk the night before you check out and pay your room charge bill with your reward card.

You can put some points on your redemption card and use your redemption card to buy memory maker online.

That's exactly what we do... Charge everything back to the room. Night before checkout use my rewards card for the charges. I think if you wait too long, they'll post charges to your credit card on file.

Sorry to commandeer the post, but do I need to take my redemption card to a Disney store and use it/transfer it to a Disney gift card? Or do I just use the redemption card itself at the park as payment? Also, I've got several Disney gift cards - we buy one every couple of weeks to save up. Will the Disney store consolidate them?

I used my redemption card to purchase Memory Maker before our trip. Just called and added it and said I was using a redemption card to pay, they asked for the number(s), etc. Easy.

In the past I've used my redemption card for BBB for my niece, tips, souveniers, etc. This trip DN didn't want BBB so I paid for the Pirates and Pals cruise for the 2 of us and some tips. Used the rest on an order from Disney Store after we got home. I like to think of it as "extra" money.

I've always been able to use my redemption card everywhere on property. I did try to use it at a Disney store to get a gift card one time and they couldn't do it. But they can consolidate multiple gift cards,

That's odd they wouldn't allow you to buy a gift card. I had a balance remaining on a rewards card that was going to expire soon. I went to the Disney store and purchased a gift card with no problems.

I thought I had read that you could, which was the main reason I went to the store. The CM seemed skeptical but tried it and sure enough the register wouldn't take my redemption card when a gc was rung up. Worked fine for the small toy that DS had picked out. I assumed they were trying to prevent the loophole of expiration dates being extended. Maybe it depends on the individual store though, or maybe it's just one of those things that the CMs have to "be in the know" to do.

Depending on where you are staying if you charge things back to the room and want to pay off with the redemption card- some resorts are charging by the time you reach half of your allowed charging limit. You may want to go every day or 2 to pay off with it, or just use the card at the parks for buying the things without charging to the room.

Do you know how quickly you can get a rewards card? If I go to the Disney Visa rewards website now and order one to pick up in the parks, will it be avl. Next weekend?

You can just pick up a card at Guest Services and then call to have your balance transferred to that card. I had to do that one time when I forgot to bring our rewards redemption card with us. I had ordered the original card about 2 months before our trip and used all of the rewards points from it to pay off our trip. My husband traveled a lot for work, so by the time we actually went on our trip, we already had another 100 rewards dollars that were going to be available by day 2 of our trip. I meant to take the redemption card along but forgot it. We called Chase to see if there was any way to get those points right away and they told us to go to Guest Relations and get another redemption card and then call to have the balance transferred. It was really quick and easy.

It would be easier to pick up a Rewards Card at Guest Relations, call Chase to activate it, and transfer all your Reward money onto it.

Because you need to verify who you are and your account info, it's best to call from a quiet area or even your resort room.

HI -I don't have an answer to your question...just more questions! Hopefully some of the Disney Rewards folks who have done this in the past can help out.

my plan had been to use the Disney rewards card to pay for our meals...
but does anyone know if the booths at the F& W festival will take the rewards card? We haven't been to Disney since the start of Magic Bands - so in order to avoid (and possibly) lose the card, would it be better to just put the charges for our meals on our bands & pay the balance at the hotel?

The F &W kiosk registers are set up to accept Disney Visa Rewards. It would be easier to use your MB for purchases if you don't want to carry around your card.

Long as OP understands that the Rewards card and Redemption card are not the same thing, and that they need to order their Redemption card about 2 weeks before they think they may need it, because its a physical card that has to be mailed to you. Once you have redemption card in your possession, you can transfer rewards to it instantly whenever you want to, as long as the expiration is valid. Once you have your redemption card loaded, you can use it anywhere a Visa card can be used on property...
