How to use Disney Reward Points

And has been stated before, if you wait too long to do one by mail, you can easily get a card once you're there. Guest services at any park has them. We don't even bother with having them mailed anymore.

@cakebaker Just FYI, this isn't always a solid plan...like when you are ready to book your vacation DCL (first time we ever redeemed ours) parks stay over the phone...and walking down to Guest Services can't help you there...

I've seen friends of ours not know that their Rewards card wasn't their Redemption card, so regardless of when they redeem it, all rewards holders should know that they need the physical redemption card...

Sorry to commandeer the post, but do I need to take my redemption card to a Disney store and use it/transfer it to a Disney gift card? Or do I just use the redemption card itself at the park as payment? Also, I've got several Disney gift cards - we buy one every couple of weeks to save up. Will the Disney card consolidate them?

You just use the redemption card itself. You order it from Chase Visa and stock it with the amount of money you want on it.

There is a way to consolidate your gift cards. Google it - Disney does offer this as an option, but I have never used it. If not, then consolidate once on property.

Thanks, I knew about the disneygiftcard.com way. I've posted in other threads about it. It only consolidates cards from similar places of purchase, though, so unfortunately I'll have to carry multiple cards still, granted I can carry fewer cards now. Got it down to one Kroger-purchased card, one Target-purchased card, and the redemption cards, though multiple redemption cards can't be merged together.

I thought I had read that you could, which was the main reason I went to the store. The CM seemed skeptical but tried it and sure enough the register wouldn't take my redemption card when a gc was rung up. Worked fine for the small toy that DS had picked out. I assumed they were trying to prevent the loophole of expiration dates being extended. Maybe it depends on the individual store though, or maybe it's just one of those things that the CMs have to "be in the know" to do.

Next time, do it online. I did this last November when I had a rewards card that was about to expire, and it was no problem.

Long as OP understands that the Rewards card and Redemption card are not the same thing

I don't understand what you mean by this. There's only one card (besides the actual credit card) and it's called the Disney Rewards Redemption Card. (I'm looking at mine right now.) Or you calling the credit card the rewards card because it earns rewards?

Right. Your rewards card is your credit card, your redemption card is the redemption. All over the parks you will see the Disney Rewards cards advertised. Obviously they aren't advertising the Redemption cards....

Perhaps it's just confusion on terminology. I don't refer to my credit card as my rewards card. I do refer to the card that contains my reward $$'s as my rewards card.

I have no idea how it works with DCL, but if you're only headed to WDW, it's very easy to obtain the rewards card at WDW- either at the parks or DTD.

Unless you want to book a deposit over the phone for a Parks stay or order tickets over the phone or anything you would want to redeem your rewards for prior to getting there. You need a redemption card in hand for that.

So top screen shot calls the Visa a Disney Rewards Visa card. The second screen shot shows how to redeem them on a Redemption card.

The Rewards card is what you use to accumulate rewards. The Redemption card is what you have to acquire either by ordering online or over the phone about 2 weeks before you need it, or can acquire once on property at GS. This is the only way to redeem all those dream dollars your Rewards Card earned you...

I didnt make up the vernacular folks. Boy did I learn it when I wanted to use them over the phone to book my Disney cruise... That was the fastest phone call I made.

It's sort of like saying 'let me put it on my airmiles card', when you are using your credit card to accumulate air miles. We put our purchases on our "Disney Rewards" credit cards and move them to a Rewards Redemption card after we have earned them. But most of the time, people don't have a separate air miles redemption card, so that's where the confusion can come in.
