How to use Comp Tickets??

I have a friend who won four 1 day Park Hopper tickets in a raffle and we are trying to figure out the best way to use these tickets. They can't be upgraded (already checked on that). Their party is 2 adults, 1 10 and 1 13 year old and they want to do 6 days in the parks. Using 1 of these per person seems like a poor use of tickets. It feels like it makes the most sense for one person to use all four tickets and then buy a 2 day ticket, but I didn't run the math yet and I'm also wondering if there's another idea I didn't think of yet, which is why I'm asking you guys!

Your idea of using the four tickets for one person and then buying a two day hopper for that one person is probably the best option if they plan on keeping the tickets. However, they could also consider selling the tickets on eBay, and the profits would probably cover one person’s full 6 day ticket.

I think your plan is the likely the best option unless they are transferable, and you can sell them to someone else who only needs one day. Going with your plan, do you need park hoppers? If the six-day tickets are park hoppers, you may consider getting the two-day tickets as non-hoppers, if you can go two days without hopping. Of course, that may make it too confusing too.

Of course, they technically aren't supposed to sell them, but they don't have their names on them or anything. Yeah, I feel bad, because they think "woo-hoo, we won Disney tickets" and in reality, the tickets aren't very useful at all. :(

Unused tickets are transferrable, so unless there's some particular stipulation with this raffle, there no reason why they can't sell them.

That being said, it's extremely foolish to buy tickets from eBay, but the world is full of fools.

If they do sell them, they should clearly state that the tickets are not upgradable.

The first thing I thought of is if they'll run into trouble if they're trying to book a package that includes hotel and tickets. I've been told in the past that everyone in the same room has to have the same ticket -- so you couldn't do just a two-day hopper for one person but 6-day hoppers for everyone else. I would definitely double check that. As others stated, selling the tickets might be the best option.

Yeah, they can't do it as a package. They did a room + dining only package and will buy tickets outside the package. Unless they sell the tickets.

You said the tickets didn’t have their name on them... do they have a cast members name on them? My ex used to work for the Disney Store so we used comp tickets all the time. If a cast member donated their tickets to the raffle, they could potentially get into trouble if they are sold on eBay and it gets back to Disney. And that’s no good. I’m not sure why you think using one ticket per person isn’t a good use of the tickets. The kids are old enough that they will need adult tickets. They could use the comp tickets one day to hop and either get 5 day bass or hopper tickets for the other days.

Because, then the tickets only save them about $10 per person (difference in price between a 5 day and 6 day adult hopper). She showed me the tickets, there aren't any names on them.

$2002.20 for 4 5 day hoppers
$1533.60 + $291.81 = $1825.41 for 3 6 day hoppers and a two day hopper

OP Don't go by me, but I was given 1 day hopper comp tickets by a friend (I know, right?!) about 2 years ago. (He got them free from an onsite resort for some problem with the room.) Back then I knew someone who worked in a GS escalation dept. who said as long as I didn't pay my friend for the tix, then they can be transferred. GS took care of transferring them to my MDE account from paper/plastic tix my friend got.

Again I don't know if that's actual policy, but I'd call and ask - at least for me the hassles of selling plus even a slight risk of Disney banning me (or even freezing my account for awhile) wouldn't be worth it to me.

I know my children's school PTA gets 1-day park hoppers from Disney each year to fundraise. They do that for non-profits to help them raise money. I think this is a pretty common thing -- I don't think they'd have any trouble selling them.

I did a similar calculation using prices from Undercover tourist and came up with the same answer. Buying 3 6-day hoppers and one 2-day hopper is less expensive. They might even be able to luck out an find a special on tickets where you buy a 4 or 5 day hopper and get a day free.
