I booked my next cruise over the phone and told them I had a placeholder but I don't see it on my bill. Am I supposed to see it? Just wanted to double check. Thank you!

You can start booking a cruise on the same sailing and in the same category and look at the cost. If it is match the cost on your bill then the placeholder was not applied.

In the fine print on your booking confirmation email, it will have this if you used a placeholder. Screenshot_20241102_120013_Email.jpg

I'm waiting for the day I can go online and click my placeholder and book my desired cruise and bam, I did it myself without the worry of having to call...........
same

also if I see a higher category cabin later, I won't have to call to upgrade. :rotfl:

When pricing out cruises I subtract the taxes than subtract 10% then add the taxes back in. I do that before I call then I know it was applied. Since it shows on your reservation your all good.

Even with a placeholder you can do this online. You see the full price prices when you go to switch rooms and then when you get to check out it discounts the 10% off.

To anyone NOT using their Placeholder - be aware even though I checked a few times, and was always told the refund was processed (requested before the timeframe expired) - it never turned up on my credit card. So out that $200 per person. Hard to argue with DCL reps who keeps saying we processed it when you know damn well it never came thru on your card. It likely cost DCL two different trips I had qualms about booking, so saved me Way more than the $200 in the end ? But just a reminder their accounting department is not without issues.

Ohhhhh, I’ve never tried to check out because I was worried it wouldn’t apply the PH. I’ve just called instead.

Same here I didn’t know it took it off at checkout.
That's not what was said. You cannot modify a placeholder online. Holula was saying to just do the math yourself to find out what your total will be if you use your placeholder.

I had one I forgot about and the credit came through automatically. As lanejudy said it's only $250, so if you're looking for $200 pp it will never show up.

that's what I thought about placeholders but even after reading the comment several times I still read it as being able to modify online? idk but it doesn't matter because I would call anyways. ;);)

No, you can modify your room yourself online with a placeholder. It doesn’t show the discount until you get right to checkout though.

You cannot move your cruise to a different cruise online still.

Correct thread! I come with pics showing you can move your placeholder to a different room online and you still get the 10% discount applied. It’s obviously not exactly 10% because of the taxes and fees.

I’m glad you replied because it sure sounded like you’ve done it before. :thumbsup2
