Im about to buy tickets from someone but is there a way that you can tell if a ticket has been used already? does universal keep your ticket after you use it or do they put a mark on it or something?

i would hate to buy tickets from someone and not be able to get in once we get there. Thanks!

I have all the info about the ticket like the serial number on the back of them.. if i call universal tomorrow can they lookup to see if the tickets have been used?

I'd be really leary of buying tickets from someone who is not an authorized ticket seller. There have been lots of stories on these boards (and others) of scams. US/IOA tickets are pretty inexpensive (7 days unlimited admission to both parks for $99 plus taxes and fees making them about $110). If you have AAA and an office near you mine sells them for $100 including all taxes and fees.

I agree...the tickets are inexpensive enough so as not to take a chance on getting to the gates only to find the tickets are not valid. Then you're out the money twice.

They will not tell you over the phone whether the ticket is used or not. You will need to scan the front and the back of the ticket and fax it to them.

I certainly wouldn't buy a ticket that way. The tickets are cheap right now so I'd just buy one from universalorlando.com.

i am going to fax the tickets to universal today.. shouldnt they be able to tell if they are vaid and will work for me?

the only thing is that we can only go for a day since getting a hotel will be too much more of an expense. to me it seems like we would be saving alot of money if we get 2 tickets that are 1 day 2 park and a parking pass for only $100.. so if i can verify that they will work that seems like the best deal i could find anywhere by alot.. right?

Darcy03231 - you said "If you have AAA and an office near you mine sells them for $100 including all taxes and fees."

We are not AAA members but my parents are - can they purchase the tickets for us at the AAA office for us? Or will someone ask for our AAA card when we go to use the tickets at Universal?

Thanks!

No one asked for my AAA when we got there (but I did have it on me).

If you're not a member, it might be worth it to sign up. I saved 10% on my food and merchandise throughout the parks. I haven't totaled up my receipts but I saved somewhere between $80-$100.

You will not be asked to show an AAA card when using park tickets.

DaleandMia,

My Sister-In-Law is a AAA member and she bought us tickets to go last month. We didn't have any problem using them. According to her AAA office, US/IOA are the only ones that do not have names on them. I'm not sure if sthe AA memeber bought Disney tickets, if they could have someone elses name put on them or if they would be the AAA members name.

I agree! Its also good for getting reduced hotel rates.

i just emailed the guy selling to me and told him if he gets a another offer before i can get everything verified to go ahead and take it.. where is the best place right now that i can get a 1 day 2 park pass if i dont end up getting the tickets from him?

Either AAA or a Florida resident ticket would be the best. If you know someone who has an annual pass, they can get you a 10% discount on a one day ticket.

for the florida resident discount.. if my aunt buys the tickets on her credit card and we print them at home.. are they going to want an ID to show we are residents at the gate?

cuz i sent universal an email about that and they replied with the following:

Hello
Thank you for contacting the Universal Online Ticket Store. One person in the party, the credit card holder must provide a state issued id.

You may use one Florida Resident photo ID to admit up to four people with Florida Resident tickets. At the park you may be asked to provide a valid Florida photo ID, which includes a Florida Drivers License, Florida State issued ID card with a Florida address, Florida voter's registration card with corresponding picture ID, or a Florida college/university ID. If you have additional questions or need further assistance, please contact the Online Ticket Store at 407-224-7840. Our hours are Monday - Saturday 7:30am to 10pm and Sunday 9am to 9pm EST. Thank you and have a great day!

The Florida resident can purchase tickets for friends and family. They can buy 4 tickets. The people they buy them for do not have to be FL residents. You aunt will have to give her FL address on the order and then choose the print-at-home. If she doesn't choose print-at-home then she would have to be with you to pick up the tickets (or at least her credit card.) So no, you yourself do not have to be a FL resident but she will need to be one to order them.

i thought it would work that way, but when they emailed me back they make it sound like we might be asked for ID because in the email they sent back to me they said "At the park you may be asked to provide a valid Florida photo ID"

I would hate to get there and have to upgrade our tickets for $25 each to the regular admission price..

i went there ( i'm from Florida ) and all i did was scan my creduit card and out popped the tickets, went to the main gate to enter and all they did was scan my ticket using the bar code.

never asked for id once. you can get someone from florida to buy online and then print the ticket out at home, then once you get there you scan the paper you printed out , if i remember correctly it too will have the bar code to scan.

I apparently entered a contest and won a free ticket and just put it aside then a wk later I got another one and so I faxed a copy of the tickets to universal and the next day I got a call that the tickets were in deed good so I would fax a copy and check. I faxed them on Monday and got a call on Tues. morning.

The discount right now for annual passholders is 50% on one-day/two-park tickets. This is for passholder appreciation month.
