Hello-

I'm so happy I found this site and this board. I'm trying to talk my DH into taking our sons who will be 17 and 18 back to Disney this fall during the 17 year olds fall break. Last time, we stayed at the Boardwalk Villas in a 1 BR (booked during value season with a significant discount through my employer). DH loved the villa and still compares everywhere we stay to that room. But I really want the kids to at least see FW, since I really think they will like it. The kids like to stay in my brothers 5th wheel when we go to visit him, even if it's just parked in the driveway and they still rate Yellowstone as their favorite trip ever.

I would really like to try a cabin this time, but I need to convince DH that it's not like sleeping in a tent. His parents do have a cabin up North that he really likes going to, so I don't think the outdoors aspect would bug him.

FW is where I stayed on my 1st ever trip to Disney. I was 8 and I loved it, so maybe I'm biased.

What do I need to know about staying in one of the FW cabins?

The cabins are great....nothing even campares to camping at Fort Wilderness, it is, hands down, the best campground I've personally ever been to. The fishing at the resort is top notch, the golf carts make being there all the more fun. The cabin bathrooms are big enough to keep even the non-camper satisfied, and the beds are more comfortable than my bed at home.

If your kids love 5th wheeling so much, maybe your husband has some of that in him as well...and you can rent a 5th wheel for far cheaper than renting a cabin from www.CampAtTheFort.com They deliver the RV to your site, set it up, show you how everything works, and remove it when your vacations over...all you have to do is move in!!! Just another wonderful option to camping at the Fort....I hope your husband gives it a shot...but be warned, the camping at FtW is addictive and you may be lifelong FORT FIENDS after a visit!!

Welcome to the boards !!

First, tell your husband, he can FISH at DISNEY WORLD (if he would like) Not everyone can say they caught a fish at Disney.:thumbsup2

The Fort is extremely family oriented campground, there is much to do for everyone from the very young to the grown ups.

The cabins are NOTHING like sleeping inna tent. They are nice, comfortable, and clean. You have dailyhouse keeping just like the other resorts. There is a kitchen in the cabins too.(the house keeping will even take care of your dishes from the night before)
If the family enjoys the 5th wheel, I believe they'll enjoy the cabins.

the items you need to bring to stay in the cabins would be the same items you'd bring to stay at any resort,,,and since there is a kitchen,,you may want to bring snacks, or food, or drinks, etc,.

There is a nice to enjoy a adult beverage, Crockets Tavern, a diner Trails End, and a Hoop Dee Doo Review dinner show(all you drink wine &beer, all you can eat food)
They do a Segway wilderness trail tour thats a blast (need advance ressies for this)

Just a ton of stuff to do,,every other trip we make to the Fort, we just do the Fort and no parks.

The cabins at Fort Wilderness are wonderful! They are extremely spacious and cozy and it is not like sleeping in a tent at all! The beds are extremely comfortable, as are the pillows. The kitchen is great if you want to eat a quick breakfast before heading out to the parks and it could save you quite a bit of money on other meals. There is also a nice deck that is great when you want to sit outside and relax. The only problem with the cabins is transportation, since the buses can be extremely slow, but as long as you have a car it will be no problem. I would highly recommend staying here and I hope you can talk your husband into trying the cabins! Have a wonderful trip!! ;)

Rent him a golf cart to drive around at FW.

That RentattheFort option is really appealing. And they have availability for our dates too.

We would definitely rent a car. We did last time too and i think it makes it easier to get groceries and go offsite if we want a change of pace to eat.

I'm loving this idea more and more, and I think he will be ok with it.
