How to stop getting Magic Bands if you already have enough

Is there a way on MDE to tell which bands are older? I want to deactivate a bunch before our next trip. We have some that we decorated but I have no idea how old those are. I decorated them last year but I just picked them randomly from our MagicBand box.

The bands are listed in order, newest ones first. It doesn't list your vacation date but you can probably estimate which year! They all have a long alpha-numeric serial number along with any customized names.

Thanks!

I've deactivated all 20 of mine except the one I got last year for the Food and Wine Premium Package. It's decorated with grapes and grape leaves. Love it so I'll wear it until the battery dies.

This isn't always true. The first MB listed in my account is from February 2015, and the second one is for a trip starting today. My third one is from May 2014, but the fourth one is from October 2014.

That's annoying. Mine are mostly in order. There are a few here and there that I never customized. They were probably waiting at the resort for me but I never took them and now they are linked to my account.

We had a problem with this last month...we were doing our first night at CB with an AP discount and then moving to OKW for the next 7 nights. I did not customize or confirm address for the one night stay...was told I would be able to use the OKW bands for the first night at CB. When we checked in at CB they had huge problems..said there were too many bands on our account so they had to get a supervisor to remove them. No joke this took 45min. They said if we didn't we would not be able to get into our room. Then the next day when we checked into OKW we had the same problem!! Even though they removed the bands at CB they still couldn't get the OKW ones to work. I had been using the new online check-in where I could bypass the desk. That didn't happen...spent another 30m at the OKW desk. Not fun with 3 kids. We are doing a split stay in Nov again. I am going to do the same thing...refuse the bands for the first 3 nights and hope the AKL bands for the 2nd half of our stay work. As of now I have NO bands on my account.

Did you open a new account? How did you get them all removed? Even the supervisor had to have left 1 on so you can open the door.

OKW never got my MB to work, but both kids were able to open the door with theirs. I think it's their system/reader, not the numerous MBs.

Obviously it had nothing whatsoever to do with the number of bands on your account then.

We've been accumulating and they're part of our countdown chain to our next trip! :):):)

Suppose I believe the rumors, and I deactivate all but one Magic Band. On a later trip, can I reactivate a Magic Band that I previously de-activated? (I'm thinking about colors. Maybe I want blue and red this trip, and pink and green next trip. Don't do split stays.)

You just click on them and choose to make them inactive. I don't know what the supervisors did.

Seems so wasteful to keep sending bands that people don't want. Should be an easier way to stop the band madness.

Dumb question alert....we have only one magic band. I will get new ones for our Sept trip. Are the old bands automatically deactivated once you receive new MB's?

Easier than calling and getting through to Tech Support to request that the shipment be suppressed?

I just did this yesterday and it was quite easy. I called the main travel line and had to be put through to the tech help desk. Waiting to get to the right person was the longest part. Thanks for the advice! I would prefer that an extra set of bands not be sent rather than telling them to recycle ones waiting. Worth the call!

someone a dvc member say they kept using their old ones - ask how they did that - she did not know.

so could someone tell me how to use the old ones - have every color - plus several greens and blues.

she acted like it was easy?

We all have two of every color and have started round three.

When is this "have enough" thing and how do we get involved? :sunny:
