Okay, so we will be at DL in 17 long, boring, did I say long? days... I know that other DISers will be there too, so how do you spot one another??? Is there a secret handshake or code word?? :thumbsup2

The green Mickey paint chip from Home Depot.

Although, i forgot to wear one and didn't see anyone else with one, either.

Unfortunately the identifiable green is not as common at DL as it is at WDW.

I have a lime green button that says DIS and has my user name on it. Its pinned on my backpack that I always have with me in the parks. In about 7 trips, I've only had 1 DISr notice it and say hi. Had several at WDW approach me.

On the flip side, I've never seen anyone with a green Mickey or any other green that would make me believe they are from the DIS.

There was a hilarious thread on the WDW side of the site, discussing coming up with a secret handshake or something along those lines to identify fellow DISers. I believe they finally settled on the 'Focker eye', which is apparently from the movie, Meet the Fockers.

I didn't see the movie, so I'm not quite sure what the 'Focker eye' is, but it sounded like a suspicious "I'm watching you!" kind of look. Wouldn't that kind of freak out someone who wasn't in the know??? :lmao:

On the disney cruise we used the paint chip :thumbsup2 I will be there when your there wendypooh but I don't think I will be using the "flocker
eye" :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Since I'm home sick with a cold, I called my TA at AAA to see if my docs where in :rolleyes1 And yes, they are :smooth: she was on vacation last week and had not gone through her in box yet. :badpc: Today is Wednesday right? :teacher: I don't think it would fair well at my job for paper work from the week before to still be there on Wednesday after I was back :rolleyes1 Oh well :dance3: I'm going to DISNEYLAND. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

OMG. My sister and I use the "Focker" eye all the time... I can't imagine walking around and doing it to someone else :rotfl2:

So, when I get my paint chip, do I make something special out of it? I will be looking for the "others" out there... :wave2:

I was soo excited because our docs were delivered to us last Friday. I love our FedEx guy  I knew what it was when he rang the doorbell, and he now thinks I am a total nutcase  because I litterally jumped for joy after I signed his little electronic pad :yay:

Oh well, my  disney craze was about to come out sometime... :rotfl:

I had planned to just make some sort of laminated tag or badge with the LGMHPC and my DIS ID on it. I've read of other people (at WDW) who stick the LGMHPCs in their resort room window and on the outside of their doors along with a notepad so other DISers can 'sign in' as they pass by. That's a little too over the top for me. ;)

Actually, Lime Green Mickey Head Paint Chip; but they can be found at Home Depots, so that works, too! ;)

I think our local Home Depot is replacing the Mickey Head samples with square samples; I don't think there's been a big run on the Mickey Heads, there have always been plenty when I went...and I didn't take that many, I swear! So I wonder if it's been an issue elsewhere and they're just replacing them everywhere. If you want some, you might head out to your local HD sooner rather than later. :)

My DH thinks I'm nuts, too. :lmao:

Especially after I talked him into stopping by Home Depot. We were driving right by, and he looked at me and said, "YOU want to go to the hardware store???" I said yes, I wanted to get some paint samples. He said there was something he wanted to look for too, so he agreed.

I tried to head over to the paint section as soon as we got in, but he said his stuff would take just a minute, so I followed him to the garden section. We looked at bricks or whatever those shaped garden-retaining wall things are called. We debated colors, shapes, sizes. There was no one to help us, so finally I found a brochure with a phone number to call, and we could move on already.

So I head to the paint section, and he gets distracted along the way. Fine. (Better, even.) So I find the Mickey paint chips - WOW! In just about every color imaginable! And such cute names, like the red was Mickey Pants. I pick up the brightest green I could find, but that wasn't even the specific official Lime Green color, which was actually of the lighter ones. Anyway, I picked up 3. I didn't have any pockets, so when DH showed up, I asked him to put them in his pocket. "Sure," he says loudly, "But why do you need three of the same color?" (I shushed him, and told him I'd explain later.) "And what on earth are you going to paint this god-awful color?!" That earned him another shush and The Look. He pocketed the paint chips and went to stand in line.

Well, the line was taking forever, so I said, "Ummm, I'll be right back." I snuck back to the paint chips, and grabbed samples (in twos or threes) of other colors, then again for the prized lime green ones, this time filching about 5! Then I heard in my ear, "I thought I would find you back here." I jumped, then realized it was just DH again. Blast him, he scared the bejeebies out of me! This time he just took my little pile of chips and chuckled.

I eventually did have to explain why I took all the paint chips, which to him was just more proof of how nuts I've become. But DS6 thought they were cool!

I know technically it isn't stealing when they give them away for free, but holy cow, I felt like such a rebel! :smokin: :lmao:

wendypooh22 and Echo queen--I'll be there when you are there too. We'll get there for dinner on the 15th and leave on the 19th. I am so excited. I was hoping that the Disney crocs would have green adult sizes and that would be a sure way to notice a DISer, but no such luck. I try not to carry a bag with me, so I don't even know where to put a paint chip.

Well, sounds like I need to make a run to Home Depot this week! I will be at Disneyland from the 17-21st, maybe I'll run into some of you Disrs.

Hope to see one of you soon,
Kathy

Since we are staying on site, I rarely carry a bag with me.. If I did, it's one of the mini backpacks just big enough for my camera and a couple of snacks for my boys. I wonder if a paint chip would fit into my lanyard plastic pocket where my tickets and fp's are?? :confused3 I will have to get my chip and see if it fits... I am not a button maker, but I can laminate it and make a luggage tag out of it for my backpack...

Oh, the waiting is killing me... I want to go NOW!! :bounce:

Ok :grouphug: I will wear a paint chip button of some sort on the strap of my across the body purse. :thumbsup2 I am thinking I will have the button wear you can see it behind me. :artist: on my shoulder. We arrive on 14 to the 19th. :bitelip:

We should invent something where we wiggle our thumbs, hop on one foot, twirl around and do a little dance. LOL! J/K. :rotfl: That would be fun though! :teeth:

Disneegrl4eva made me a laminated lime green mickey paint chip key chain. She put my DIS name and DIS Rocks on it. I put it on my bag. It's the cutest thing. I met her on Monday and that was the way that I recognized her.

We'll be there when some of you other fun DISers are there!! Maybe I'll have to get a lime green Mickey head, too.

Oh my goodness!! I did the same thing! Except my mickey head is blue. I made one a few months ago and keep forgetting to hang it on my bag. :goodvibes
