Hello all!

Anyone have recommendations on what carrier and how best to ship my dress to Florida? Also, the general cost, if anyone has info on that. I know it would vary by size and weight, but just a ball park. My dress is not overly huge.

Wedding in 25 days! Yay!

No one has any thoughts on this?? Surely some of the ladies out there had to ship their dress to Disney. I just don't know if I go, Fed Ex, USPS, or what. It's a scary prospect!!

I don't have the info on me now but Carrie's book has the details, including the service she used to ship her own wedding dress.

Hi! I sent mine to Carolyn Allen's via Fedex for less than $25 by squooshing it down into the carton it came in from the manufacturer. I paid CA a nominal storage fee and they brought it to my room and steamed it (for an additional cost) the morning of the wedding.

When they shipped it back via UPS it cost $30. Nowadays they only do pickup and return shipping if you pay for dry cleaning and/or preservation.

I carried mine on the plane as a carry-on. I wouldn't risk it through UPS or Fed-Ex. However, I had to sacrifice taking a bag.

Carrie--did you fold your dress in any specific way? I was thinking of just keeping my dresses in their garment bags and throwing them in a big box. Is that okay to do, or do you have any other recommendations?

I didn't see anything specific on that in my particular edition of Passporters...just where to ship it and when.

I don't think you even need the garment bags. Mine was in a regular clear plastic bag from the manufacturer, but if you were worried about them touching the box, you could wrap them in tissue.

I did fold the dress so that all material fit within the "frame" created by the boning in the bodice—kind of like in this tutorial I did on how to preserve your gown: http://disneytravelbabble.com/how-to/wedding-gown-preservation/

If yours have any beading or other special decoration, I'd definitely buffer them with tissue. :thumbsup2
