We sent our deposit FedEx Saturday delivery because we were working against a deadline (3/21 rule). It was $48
We sent our final payment via priority mail with signature required and it was around $6. It also got there just as fast as FedEx (mailed on a Saturday received on a Monday).
I'd recommend USPS with some time of delivery confirmation or signature required. It's almost as fast as FedEx 2-day, if not as fast, and saves you 80%.
I agree, USPS Priority with delivery confirmation is a bargain in todays shipping prices.
