I have heard that many of the CM's are not allowed to take tips. Does anyone have another way they have thanked a CM. Or just to show a special thanks to all the CM's that make your trip so magical? Thanks!

You can send them a fruit basket or candy? You can & should most definatly write a letter to Disney & tell them, give them as much info on the CM that you can. Most people are always writing to complain about one. They look for positvie comments too.... it can go a long way for a CM

I have written to WDW after most visits just to let them know that there were some cm's that went above and beyond the call to make my visit magical. In most cases I only knew their first names so in the letter I would say for example Lisa from MGM guest relations or pat from CBR housekeeping etc.. Give them a few details like where and when to narrow down the cm. I would also ask that their supervisors be informed that this person did a great job and should be commended. I dont know if any of them actually hear of the letter but in every case, within a month of returning home, I got a call from a cm in guest relations thanking me for the nice letter. The address I use is for all WDW in general: Walt Disney World Guest Letters
P.o. Box 10040
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830-0040

Now for the flip side:
One year I asked a CM in a park if there was a DVD of all the night time shows in their entirety like Illuminations. She said no but that it was a good idea and that I should write to Disney. I did write and suggested that they make one available for those that dont have video cameras or would just like a proffesional job. I also suggested the best views from which to video tape each show. A few weeks latter I recieved a reply. It basically said that my letter was fowarded to the legal dept and was being returned un read because it contained "creative elements" but thanked me for my interest. Thinking my suggestion about the best views was the "creative element" I reworded the same letter and resent it even stating in it that I attempted to remove any creative stuff. I then got a letter from a Disney paralegal requesting that I refrain from sending similar letters. Apparently for legal reasons, Disney wont accept any suggestions involving the creation or changing of shows or rides that doesnt come from within the company. So now, during each visited if I have a suggestion I let a cm know in hopes they will make something happen.

Actually, its not that weird at all.

Unfortunately, we live in a very litigious society. If Disney changed an existing element/created a new element based on a guest suggestion, and that change or new item could be proven to bring an impact to Disney's bottom line income, the 'free-lance creator', the one with the suggestion, would have the right to sue to receive a piece of that income if he/she was not already being paid by Disney to create and could prove that they originated the idea.

Its not unique to Disney; many corporations will do the same with suggestions and ideas.
