The lady takes both our tickets. She has a big smile plastered on her face, you'd think it would make me feel less scared, but some people like to smile when giving bad news.
Behind us, they've started boarding the plane, only business class passengers for now.
After what seems like an eternity the lady hands us 2 different tickets. Her smile has gotten bigger.
"You've been selected to try our new Business class ! Enjoy your trip !!!"
Thank you Jesus !!!! And American Airlines. And Smile lady. It took all we had not to start yelling like teenage boys at a Justin Timberlake concert.
We do take the time to ask the lady if we are together (I ain't sitting next to someone who isn't my mommy) then run off to board. This is so cool !!! Grumpy & I always joke about getting upgraded to Business because there's so little chance of it happening. We've only flown business once - when Grumpy got sick on a trip to New York, and we had to have our insurance company send us back home. Grumpy was so out of it she barely noticed she was in a bigger seat
Think she's realizing it this time ?
Oh brother, those seats are great. Huge. I immediately start playing with mine and with the "entertainment center" in front of me. Grumpy concentrates on the menu and wine list.
And there's a comforter !! Not a blanket - a comforter. I read one nasty, nasty article once about what people do with their blankets on the plane, and can't even look at one anymore. We actually have a name for them now, but I doubt it's DIS approved. But this thing looks so comfy, I don't think I'll resist long.
They hand us champagne, juice and water. Then a dish of warm nuts (yummo). When lunch time comes, they feed us as if we haven't seen food in weeks. And it's pretty darn good too. I was dying to take pics of the food for my dining report but Grumpy gave me the evil eye.
See, she thought the people around us were looking at us thinking "oh those people MUST have been upgraded!". Maybe because after playing with the controls of my seat for too long I got stuck half-reclined and about a foot higher than anyone else and couldn't get down anymore. Just maybe.
We had a lot of turbulence - once shaking for nearly 40mns straight - but it was still an amazing experience. Soon I was under my comforter and snoozing away. Our flight took about 7.5 hours but only seemed like 3hrs or so to us. Now we know why people pay the big bucks.
The plane landed in JFK and we were almost sorry it wasn't a longer flight

but at the same time, very excited about getting to Orlando already.
Immigration and customs went fast. Too fast. We had over 3 hours between our flights and nothing to do. What can you do when you have that much time in an airport ?
You take silly pictures. Of somebody else, of course.
She doesn't have the rock on sign down yet, but she's trying.
Once we finally board the plane, first class is almost a disappointment. It's only slightly bigger seats than coach. Still better than coach though and it didn't matter anyway because I was asleep again before we even left the ground. That was my plan : sleep all the way there and save my energy for Disney.
Grumpy is sad and wants to see Goofy.
That's it !! We're flying over Orlando!!
We land on time, around 6.40pm.
Because we never received our DME tags, we have to get our checked bag and that takes some time. It's about 7.30 when we make it on the DME bus.
It was CROWDED in there !!
For the first time we were able to sit at the front and I was looking forward to finally taking a pic of the Disney gates.
Hmmm not great but at least I got it.
