If this is in the wrong place, Mods, please move it.

Last may, we got some NASTY fly bites/welts that lasted for WEEKS :scared1: AND itched like crazy..

I had read somewhere of something to repel them, (and other insects!)...but don't remember :confused3

Leaving saturday...can anyone help? Thanks!

Easy to carry. Non-messy. Smells nice.

HERE.

Several golfers have told me that a fabric softener dryer sheet in your pocket works as well. Have never tried it so I can't say for sure. We have never really been bothered by any bugs when there.

I've heard that Bounce dryer sheets and Avon Skin So Soft work well, but I personally think that was made up by people trying to sell Bounce dryer sheets and Avon Skin So Soft.

OFF worked well for me back when it contained the substance which shall not be named, but doesn't work for me now.

All that really works for me is putting Cort-aid on after I get the bites.

I agree with the people saying that Disney does a good job at pest control. :thumbsup2

We were there the last week in May last year and were bitten by these yellow flies that hurt so much...they were almost like horsefly bites that we get here on Long Island. We have gone in May for the past several years and had never before encountered these flies. I am hoping they are not there in June when we go this year!

Start taking vitamin B. I had this last trip, it's no fun. Suprising Vit B works really well.

I can vouch that these worked like a charm! Even walking around the Boardwalk area one night and the bugs were everywhere. We didn't have one bite on us.

I have never heard this. I am not going until September but we have a crazy bug problem up here. I am on my way to the store to pick up some B vitamins. Do I need just a general B complex or one particular B. Thanks.

A good way to avoid being bit is to not wear perfume of any kind: perfumes can be found in shower gel, deodorant, shampoos, etc

Also I heard what you eat can make a difference. Such as eating bannanas will attract them to bite you(I can't prove this, I just read it in several websites so it might have some truth to it), such as the Vitamin B.

I'd say take a general vitamin B. I personally take the vitamin B stresstabs, one a day while it's bug season or im away in buggy areas.

I believe it's either the B1 or B6 in them that helps. Hope that was helpful.

Is there a certain month these flies are bad?????? They bite you at the resort or at the parks or both????

I highly recommend Avon's Skin So Soft!

I lived in Orlando for 3 years, and I was a bug magnet. I remember watching the fireworks at the Poly one night and came home to see I'd been bit 16 times :scared1:And they all got swollen and quite painful.

I ended up buying THIS and it worked wonders. I actually worked in Animal Kingdom so bug repellent was nonnegotiable, and as long as I applied in the morning I'd have a bite-free day. This particular version of SSS is a lotion so it's not sticky, plus it has SPF 30.

I'll take my chances with deodorant and shampoo. I hope everyone else uses it while I'm there! :scared:

In all the different months we've gone (Jan, May, June, Sept, Oct, Nov), I've never once been bothered by any bugs. :confused3

OK, maybe it's because we always go in July, or maybe because we are lucky, don't when we are in Disney we never see bugs or get mosquito bites. :confused3

Hahaha I 2nd that! I hope everyone does wear deodorant because there's nothing worse then standing in a 45min wait line next to someone who smells like BO!

I got that tip off of a website so I think they were trying to say buy products that are perfume free. Like no-frills brand deodarant, etc. lol

:confused:I think I got hit bad the night we were out on the lake, on a WISHES cruise.
So, hopefully, this time we will be ok..

That makes sense. I'm just hoping no one forgets the shampoo and deodorant.

LOL, I think they were reminding people that scented products aren't just perfumes and body washes.

You can get unscented deodorant. It will still prevent the stinkola. :)

Take my word for this one...

Don't Bite Me Patch (google it)

Live in Houston and mosquitos FEAST on DD4.

One patch lasts 3 days and she goes without bug spray.

Bugs don't touch her.

Just back from 3 nights at FW and yellow flies (or deer flies) were REALLY bad in the 1800 loop. Backwoods Off worked a little, but they still managed to "attack" us starting around noon up until dark. DS has 25 bites on his legs alone. I would HIGHLY recommend a screen tent if you have one. We were on the canal, which was wonderful, but may have been the reason for more flies. One website says the season is May and June, another says May to September. Had a wonderful time but those little buggers RUINED some of our quality time at the campsite, especially dinner time!
