How to rent DVC points?

Hi. I'm just wondering how renting points from a member works? How many points would I have to rent? So new to this so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You should begin by reading all of the threads at the top of the DVC Rent/Trade Board. If you still have any specific questions, feel free to ask them here.

Once you decide which resort and type of villa you will need, you can see the points needed for the stay by checking out the link for "DVC Point Charts" at the upper right just under the Heron logo of the Timeshare Store.

In addition, I'd suggest knowing what the same reservation will cost reserving directly thru Disney so you can compare what a member may offer in terms of the rental cost. IMO, that is even more important than knowing the points needed (points are of no use to you anyway - they are just the media used by DVC members to make a reservation for rent) or the even the cost per point. I'd focus on the total cost for the villa you want to rent and compare that to what a cash reservation would cost.

Once you know the dates, resort and type of villa, go ahead and respond to any of the "Points for Rent" threads on the DVC Rent/Trade Board and see what response you get from a member.
