How to remove melted crayon from upholstery?

I left one of those Crayola dry erase crayons (bright blue, of course) in the front seat of my car this summer & the thing melted. There's a large and rather obvious stain on the seat now... and we're looking at trading in the car sometime soon, so I'm trying to figure out how to get it out.

Everything I've read says to use an iron or ice to scrape the crayon off of it, but there's really nothing to scrape off. It's just a stain on the seat now, like any other kind of food/dirt/whatever stain.

Anyone have any ideas?? I'm not the the handiest of housewives so I have no clue where to even start. :rotfl:

Even though there is nothing to scrape off per se, try taking a brown paper bag and ironing the top of it and the crayon will melt onto the brown paper bag.

Any tips on how to get an ironing out into my driveway besides a long, long extension cord?? :rotfl:

You just gave your solution. Extra long extension cord. If you want you can borrow one of the DH's. A hundred footer should do it for you. :goodvibes

You can iron over a paper towel, too. I've done this to clean up candle wax that spilled on our carpet. Good luck!

I'll have to see if DH has one long enough in the garage or something because I know I definitely don't have a "household" one that's long enough.

Do you decorate for the holidays??

I've got a ton of cords for all my christmas lights, indoors and outdoors. Check your outside walls, you might be able to find a few outlets outside.

We do have outside outlets but they're all on the opposite side of the house (figures, lol!). I've got quite a few Christmas extension cords -- all those tree green colored ones -- but none are long enough to plug into the wall, make it across the dining room, out the door, across the porch & into my car.

I've been looking up remedies for dry erase markers since it's a dry erase crayon & it says to try plain old dish soap or rubbing alcohol so since I have both of those handy, I'll give them a try first & then go on a hunt for a long extension cord if that doesn't work. :)

Just don't try to connect more cords together.

Don't forget to check around next week. Just because they normally sell extension cords, doesn't mean the holiday packaging doesn't get marked 1/2 off too.

I never understood that. I love stocking up on snowflake printed dish soap, red saran wrap, green ziplock containers...

I think every household extension cord in my entire home is green!

And I'm usually just finishing last year's stock up on green and red saran wrap at Christmas! :lmao:

I don't get the discount on those things either, but I happily take advantage of it!

So it turns out my mom is a genius... she looked at the Crayola site and it has a special section that tells you how to get stains out of various surfaces for each of their products. Pure genius!!

It says to get the Crayola Dry Erase Crayons out of car seat upholstery to use Oxy Clean carpet cleaner or Woolite as directed on their package.

I've got some Oxy Clean pet stain carpet cleaner & my mom gave me a can of Woolite so I'm going to give it a shot tomorrow. Fingers crossed I don't just spread the blue stain out!

I can attest that any carpet cleaner with an Oxygen base has worked, thus far, on every stain in my cream carpet. (None were of crayon origin, however!) Spritz until the carpet is wet, rub it in with your fingers or a wash rag. Wait.

Stain has magically dissappeared the next day!:thumbsup2
