How to Prove Florida Residency?

If I want to take advantage of some of the perks Disney offers Florida residents, how do they ask that you prove your residency?

My husband is military, so we move a lot, and I had to get a Texas driver's license last year for work, but that did not affect my residency status in Florida. I am still a registered voter in Florida, for instance.

TIA

.... we brought a power bill in our name with our FL addres s and it worked. DH also gave his military ID, but not sure if he needed to... force of habit from moving so much.

Did the same thing at DL last year when we were in Cali.

It appears that the other acceptable documents require that you have a Florida address, which of course we don't because we don't live there anymore. Our address for government purposes is the courthouse. I wonder if they'd accept the Florida vehicle registration that was mailed to us at a Virginia address, matched with a Texas driver's license... hmm

FYI, this is just how the military works. You don't change your residency every time you move. That would be unreasonable.

Wow, I've never even THOUGHT about that!! Must be tough moving and then having to prove this type of thing. Hope you find your answer!! :thumbsup2

But we moved... we don't live there anymore, but our residency is Florida

Hopefully the resident expert here, Cheshire Figment, will be along to answer this for you. It comes up all the time, I just don't remember the answer.

Thank you very much for your family's sacrifices. :goodvibes

I definitely have both (well, dependent ID), but those aren't listed as acceptable documents on the website. Worth trying I guess :)

Several of our friends have tried to use Florida residency while stationed elsewhere and I have heard mixed luck on their experiences. I think part of the reason they won't accept registration is due to the situation you are in - a non-resident, resident. I'm not sure what the official line is - as PP said , Cheshire a figment is awesome at these ?s - but I have seen most need confirmation of current residency

Is the military discount not available for the dates you are looking? I thought it was pretty close to the current resident offers.

We just use our driver's licenses, but I think if you're in the military you can use anything that shows you're stationed in Florida.

The issue is that the OP is a FL resident that is currently not residing in FL due to the Military.

The only way to get FL Resident Ticket are with:

* Valid Florida State Drivers License
* Valid Florida State issued ID Card with Florida Address
* Valid Military ID stationed at one of the Florida Military Bases

There are other ways but they all require something like a bank statement that's sent to a FL address.

"The persons who will use the Florida Resident adult tickets must be present at the time of ticket pick up. If you do not have one of the IDs indicated above, then for each adult ticket purchased you must provide one of the following dated within the last two months and evidencing a Florida residential address together with a corresponding picture ID (passport, driver's license, state identification card):

Monthly mortgage statement
Florida vehicle registration or title
Homeowner's insurance policy or bill
Automobile insurance policy or bill
Utility bill
Mail from a financial institution, including checking, savings, or investment account statement
Mail from a Federal, State, County or City government agency
Bills can be no more than two (2) months old. PO Boxes are not accepted as proof of residency. Current bills printed from electronic versions are acceptable, though photocopies and fax copies are not."

Do you get any mail sent to an address in Florida? We are able to purchase resident tickets with out of state driver's licenses and current bank statements mailed to our Florida address, no problem.

Did a search and came up with one of CheshireFigment's old posts answering this in detail:

These are the official rules:

Florida Resident tickets are only available to actual Florida Residents and cannot be purchased for out-of-state family or friends.

An adult Florida Resident may purchase Florida Resident media for more than one Florida Resident from any location that provides an exchange certificate and not an actual ticket.

Children under the age of 18 are not required to provide proof of Florida residency if they are accompanied by an adult with valid proof of Florida residency

If the Guest has an exchange certificate, a valid form of Florida ID will be required when the exchange certificate is redeemed for the actual pass

One ticket only per valid proof of Florida residence (a Florida resident may buy tickets for minors in the party)

Exchange Certificates may say:

"After sale..., may not be transferred except as a gift." This means that the certificate may be given as a gift, so long as the recipient meets the defined Florida residency criteria.

"Purchase and redemption of this exchange certificate requires proof of Florida Residency."

The following items are the only documents accepted as proof of Florida Residency:
* Valid Florida State Drivers License
* Valid Florida State issued ID Card with Florida Address
* Valid Military ID stationed at one of the Florida Military Bases listed below:
(List of bases removed as unneeded)
As of August 20, 2010, Voter Registration Card is no longer an allowed ID
As of August 20, 2010, Florida University/College Student ID is no longer allowed

For Part-Year Residents the following original documents are acceptable.

Note that fax and photocopies are not acceptable, that bills and mail cannot be more than two months old, that PO Box addresses are not allowed, and items related to Time Shares are not permitted.

Must have a driver's license or state photo ID card from another state, or a non-US Passport and at least one of the following items which does show a Florida address:
* Monthly mortgage statement
* Current homeowner's insurance policy or bill, current automobile registration, insurance policy or bill or current utility bill (Power/Phone/Cable/Water).
* Statement from a financial institution showing checking, savings, credit card or investment information or mail from a Federal or Florida State, County or City government agency.

Effective August 20, 2010 Proof of Rent, Mortgage or Ownership such as a Deed, mortgage payment booklet or residential lease are no longer allowed.

Sounds like you are a resident for legal purposes. But, to qualify for FL resident tickets you need to actually reside in FL. Disney is not the government so they can abide by their own rules. Not the military's rules. Doesn't sound like you will have much luck with this route.

Just get the Military discount. I think that is a reasonable alternative, no? :confused3

Sorry but that info is outdated. Mortgage statements are allowed. My quote is directly from the Disney website, copied and pasted just now.

Good luck, OP!

If you were referring to the one just before you, it said:

A statement is fine; a deed or mortgage payment *booklet* is not.
