how to prevent shorts from riding up

So is the anit-persp..deodorant the spray or rub on or what??
The solid stick type worked best for me, but I still liked the bodyglide more. It seemed to last longer.

Have any of you wonderful Pooh Size Disers (LIKE ME!) tried the knee length Spanx under your shorts? I'm getting married so I spend a lot of time on the Knot.Com and the girls there swear by this product to help hid their sins in their wedding gown. I saw at Lane Bryant the other day they have bicycle type length ones and am wondering how that would work under the shorts? I bough bodyglide the other day but it doesn't seem to be working all that well for me.... Maybe the Spanx would be a help?

I just tape the shorts to my legs and they stay there. I find duct tape works well.

Duct tape is the Force. It surrounds us, it penetrates us and it binds the galaxy together.

I find that Gold Bond powder works pretty well too. The problem with the spandex underneath is that it's too darn hot! I agree on the size issue, that isn't the whole problem with shorts riding up. It's more about shape and the cut of the short-some fit me fine with no riding and others ride all day long.

Like I said in my previous post regarding wearing something under regular shorts, I bought these WONDERFUL cotton lace under-bike shorts underwear. They are to prevent chafing under shorts and dresses. You can see them HERE

Here's a picture:

They also have THESE under-bike shorts that are about $5. cheaper. I don't own these but they look good too.

I used them, in August and Sept at WDW, under my regular shorts instead of traditional underwear and they worked great.

If I don't feel like wearing them for whatever reason I still swear by Bodyglide.

Between these two items I haven't had a chafing issue for at least 5 trips now.

Where did you find those??? I NEED some!! :cool1:
.
Lane Bryant has the full skirted skorts. They call them scooters, I think. I bought at least 2 this year and a few last year too. Love them.

Regarding full skirt skorts, I bought some (Karen Scott brand???) at Hechts/Macys two years ago and some St. John's Bay brand ones at JC Penney last year.

try the skorts they have out now, it looks like a skirt but has shorts underneath...so even if the shorts do ride up, no one will know, as the skirt keeps it covered! love them! They make them in all sorts of styles and materials from dressy to sporty! DH asks me why I don't wear shorts anymore, but I don't even want to!

I found a pair of these, too, and they're very flattering. Draws the eye vertically on my short legs, too. They were $32 or $35 at Sears and were Lands End in a Khaki color, called a Field Short. Hits right at the back of the knee. I probably should have bought two pairs...

Thanks! I looked for these on your recomendation, and found a khaki pair in my size. I wore them today for the first time and boy are they comfortable! I got them for $19.99 (reduced) and wish I had looked for more. I'm going to try Sears again tomorrow.

:rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2: :thanks: for the best laugh I've had in a long time....man I must have laughed hard for 5 minutes with tears in my eyes and chuckled for a full 10.......Thanks for that.

I don't usually have a problem with my shorts riding (even though I'm just this side of Pooh-sized) but I do have circulation problems and wear compression stockings at times. At the pharmacy, where the stockings are sold, you'll find a special roll-on glue for the stockings and more. I'd bet this would work with the shorts. I have sensitive skin and the glue doesn't bother me and it also is easy to wash off with water. It also won't stain your clothing.

I'm not Pooh sized and I have the shorts riding up problem. I've found that I just have to try different brands and when I find one that doesn't ride, "as much", then I get a bunch. Length doesn't seem to matter as much. I tired skirts one year, used the monistat anti chafing cream and it worked great! But I don't really have any skirts and I find they aren't all that flattering on my body type.

I haven't worn shorts in about three years, but I'm currently in the market. I will primarily wear capris and maybe a few skirts but I'm going to WDW in August and I've recently lost a couple of pounds so I'm treating myself. However, I went to two stores yesterday and all the shorts were soooo short! I was horrified. Who at my size (or any size) would want a one inch inseam?!

Anyway, I've found that well constructed shorts made from heavier fabrics like denim are much better than any other fabric. Shorts with cuffs also "weight" the fabric down, although they visually *cut* the leg in half. Try on shorts and walk around for 30 seconds. If they migrate, DO NOT BUY THEM. Also make sure that they are long enough. In addition, if they are too large, they will also roll up more easily. They should fit comfortably but not tight or too loose.

I was in WDW last year and I saw a more than Pooh sized woman in a large tank top and what appeared to be nothing else. Only after a few glances did I realize she had on shorts that had rolled all the way up and only two pink flaps on her outer thighs were visible. It looked uncomfortable and embarrassing.

I also have to share - I wore a skirt and tank top to work last month with sandals. It was the first time I can remember in quite some time that I did that. I came home and sat down and realized- I wasn't chafed at all. It was a proud moment (yet slightly embarrassing to retell on the DIS ;) ) I was surprised when I realized it, though! So, I've been wearing more skirts since then.

I think the boy shorts underwear you can buy are longer than some of the shorts they sell in the juniors section of any store. :rotfl2:

I'm Pooh, too. I like pedal pushers (and they are very "in" this year) They are longer than shorts, but shorter than capris, and they don't "ride up."

I know!!!! Isn't it crazy?!

Those don't ride up- because there's nowhere else for them to go! They only have a one inch inseam.

I bought a full-all-the-way-around skort in Kmart  today. Really cute sage green cotton twill with embroidered pink hibiscus. Cute.

I am not Pooh-sized, but I gave up on women's shorts years ago. I love how the men's shorts comes to my knee. They have huge pockets, and because they are so long, they ride up less. I even bought men's basketball shorts in black and navy from Kohl's just to wear around the house. However, they are so comfortable, that I'm taking them to WDW this September :thumbsup2

So come on over to Men's department Ladies! You'll see me there! :wave2:

Not to be rude - but - why would anyone keep wearing clothing which doesn't fit them properly. Why be uncomfortable? :confused3

I ask myself that whenever I see girls running around in their Daisy Dukes. :)

You might be thinking that if shorts ride up they don't fit properly, which isn't the case. If a woman who has thighs that touch (this can happen to a 120 lb woman in some cases) wears shorts that are made of soft or slippery material (polished cotton, nylon, etc.) they will ride up regardless of the size. In fact, larger size (more room in the thighs) actually provides more fabric to pull and slip in some cases. I have silk pajamas with shorts that I avoid wearing for that very reason.

I had this problem on a trip last week (chafing, that is!). Was in San Francisco and they had unusually warm weather. Was wearing a cute jeans skirt shopping and had a terrible time. Went back to the hotel and changed to a knit skort; no problems at all! Wish I had had bodyglide or the Vagisil anti-chafing gel with me.

I like those, too! But, I'm so short they actually fit like capris. I was just so happy to be able to wear capris like everyone else. BTW, I really love this thread. Thanks to everyone for being so sensitive about this issue. I'm gonna try the deoderant thing as soon as i get home.
