This is our first trip with our 3 children. What are some strategies when making your schedule. We are going Dec. 2-16. We will not be staying on a Disney resort (we have some free passes to the parks) should we plan to go to the parks on days there isn't the extra magic hours for resort guests? Are the parks more busy these days? Are some weekdays better than others for certain parks? Any stregies would be very useful for us to plan! We don't want to spend too much time in lines. Also if we are going to the MVMCP should we also spend the day at Magic Kingdom or do that on another day? Last question what is an ADR that people are talking about booking?

ADR is advance dining reservation
If you are not staying on property I would not go to the parks that have extra magic hours, especially the evening ones, on the same day.
The time of year you are going will not be as busy so you should be able to see the parks in a liesurely fashion.
If you are going to the MVMCP, remember, not all the rides are open. You don't say how old your children are but alot of what makes the party so much fun are the things other than the rides so I would plan on doing the rides earlier then the other stuff at the party. If there is something you want to ride again and it's open you can do it during the party. This way, your kids wont miss the special party things because they want to ride everything.
I don't know where your free passes came from but I have heard from a friend that there are people who got free passes to WDW for looking at various presentations and the passes weren't legit.

I think that a MVMCP day is a great opportunity to do another park during the day and then MVMCP at night. Even better is to have a relaxing day at the pool or shopping so you are well rested for the long night!!!

Well see you there - we will be at WDW Dec 2- 9!

From the questions you are asking, it sounds like Tour Guide Mike has your answers. Especially if you don't want to wait in lines and want to know best days to go. I don't think it's for everyone, but for what you're asking it sounds like it would be very helpful for you. See link above.
