What do you do to pass the time while waiting for shows to start, eg Fantasmic? We go in July and so will have to get seated 90 mins before etc.

So - can we take in food to eat while waiting? Do we catch some Zs? Play I-spy?! Write postcards home??

DD is 13, DS is 10 and they will squabble at the drop of a hat, and DH hates waiting. I'd prefer that we are still speaking by the time the shows start, so I need to find some diversions ... what do you do?

TIA,
Margo

If you have a handheld game (e.g. a Gameboy), that's a great diversion.

It's a little mature for kids, but I like to write in a journal. That way, when I make trip reports, it's really easy because all my info is right there.

Snacking is also a great way to pass the time. Just try and make the snacks somewhat healthy. There's fresh fruit stands in each of the parks. If that won't work for ALL of the waiting, find another diversion! :)

Bathroom breaks can be done. Your husband can take one kid at a time to the bathroom.

Those would be my suggestions! :)

Why not book a Fantasmic Dinner Package? We did this on our last trip and it worked out great. I was leery at first because I heard the seats were not the greatest (all the way over to the side), but we could see just fine and it sure beat waiting over an hour with 4 kids!

I saw lots of people playing cards while waiting. If there is a second showing of Fantasmic during your stay I recommend trying to go to that one. The last two years we have gone to the 10:30 Fantasmic and only had to wait 15-20 minutes. The CM's tell the people waiting to go ride something and come back at 10:00 because the second show never fills up.

When we opt to wait for Fantasmic...we make the waiting part of the experience.

We grab some hotdogs, popcorn and drinks...have a picnic...play cards, play with bubbles, silly putty, trade pins, play hangman, disney trivia (i have a small pack of trivia cards), and then we share what our favorite meals of the day were, our fav snacks, our fav rides, etc. It passes the time, it is fun and our kids have a chance to wind down and get excited for upcoming Fantasmic.

Good Luck!

We're just two adults, so on the day we know we will be waiting 90 mins for Fantasmic, we bring books. I'd say if your kids love reading, they'd like this too. Or it might be a good day to bring some colored pencils and drawing paper (crayons might melt on a hot day). Handheld games are okay, but I know my neices won't put them down once the show starts.

While waiting for Fantasmic DH Joe,and my boys Erich and Jonathan got the Wave started !!! :teeth: It took them about 5 or 6 tries before it really got going but then it must have gone back and forth across the theater about 15 times!!!
