Not going until next July. Haven’t been in 12 years. This will be our first with the family. We are excited but...what do you do while waiting a year?!

I constantly look on the Disney Cruise Line Blog and look through the Personal Navigators and the menus. Even though I know that some of the things I am looking at will change by the time I get on the ship, it helps me pretend that I am actually on that cruise.

Come to this site every day. You will learn a lot, just by reading other people's questions. Join or create a cruise thread in the cruise meet area.

Check out the excursions. You don't go for a year means you will be doing your online check in and signing up for stuff in 9 months (you're Silver, right?)

Get your creative hat on and start planning the door decorations.

Get your payments in order. Plan how you'll pay it off... in chunks or all at once? Gift cards? Credit card?

If you're interested in joining an FE, start looking for those and maybe keep an eye out for things you'll gift.

Work out, shop for cruise wear, watch videos and vlogs, read blogs.

Reading all the navigators is making me mentally plan what we want to do 😂

Yes we’ll be silver. Nice that they still let us hold onto the first one that long! We do still need to figure out which excursions we want to do.

Payment is sitting in the bank. Just don’t want to give it all up quite yet 😉 not doing FE and have found whatever groups I could for our cruise. They just aren’t hopping yet. Making lists and doing shopping, yup! Working out, yes 🤞🏻 that will lead to more shopping. 😂

So, door decor and excursions. Most worried about GF food but I’ve read 10 pages of the gf search so I’m just going to have to go and hope for the best.

Plan magnets, visit this site, shop the sales in the off seasons for clothes you may need, scan for non-DCL excursions, work out (lose those pounds to gain them back! LOL). Have fun!

We don't go again until December 2020. I keep reading here, looking at excursions, thinking about what we want to do before/after and looking at options for that. I've also started planning a fall break long weekend in Chicago so I have that planning to work on. I'm also on a mission to save as much as possible paying for the next cruise with discounted gift cards and credit card rewards so looking at options there and keeping track of what I actually spend/how much I saved. :)

Fish extender planning is fun! Researching shore excursions. Browsing navigators and menus. Keeps me feeling like I am in the "I'm going on vacation" mode

All of the above mentioned things.

The disboards, videos, trip reports, DCL website and blogs. It keeps you excited. But you learn so many tips. Great information from great people!!

We cruise in January. I have found some great you tube channels with great tips and of course videos. It’s so great to have so many resources.

Happy waiting and planning.👍🏻😀

I keep watching this site and the Disney cruise site for other cruises I might be able to take while I'm waiting for one far out. I usually end up booking another one (or a trip to WDW or somewhere else)!

I know your pain.........
Our next cruise was suppose to be Sept 2020. Been doing nearly all the above. Couldn't take it any longer. Signed up for a January 2020 B2B. Only 6+ months away.

We have a Dec. 2020 cruise booked and EVERYTHING mentioned is pretty much SOP, Standard Operating Procedure. I do have something that might be considered goofy or even dopey ----

I imagine where on the ship I might be and what I would be doing at that exact moment in the future.

Agree and have done all of the above for the past year (54 more day to go!)... this site and DCL vlogs on YouTube have been the biggest contributor to passing the time. Since I'm close now i'm trying to break up shopping for travel necessities to every other weekend to keep the excitement up (and not blow my budget in one trip to target or amazon order lol). Have fun with the anticipation and planning!!

If you have kids, one thing we do is a vacation chain. We start it several months ahead. We put the dates on each link along with a fun thing we like to do, want to do, a fun food to eat, etc. Then, each day they get take a link off and read what’s on it. It’s a lot of fun, especially watching the chain get shorter.

Other traveling, of course! 😃

Seriously though...I'd be looking up excursions. We always book independently. I'd also check what I needed to pre-book and be prepared. I don't think I've ever watched YouTube videos - I don't really obsess. I do check my cruise and join the FE and other exchanges.
