Having quite a dilemma on how to pack for our trip in 1.5 weeks. Looks like rain in the next 10 day forecast. Is spring rain in Florida like summer rain where it only lasts a couple hours or rainy all day? The temps look all over the place. Will we need actual jackets for morning/evening or just sweatshirts?

Experience has taught me that any central Florida forecast more than three days in advance means virtually nothing.

We go during this same time period every year, and we have never encounted much rain at all. What rain we have had was short-lived. We have used lightweight jackets occasionally but not much.

Weather has always been great. Crowds have always been heavy, but good weather makes crowds much more bearable. See you there!

This time of year is considered our "dry" season. When we get rain it is typically tied to weather fronts, and it can last anywhere from a few hours to several days, depending on how fast the front clears the area. Most of the time it is not heavy rain like the summer storms - more of a drizzly light to medium rain. It's also harder to predict, so I would agree not to look more than a couple days out. Temps will be all over the place - cool when a front goes through, then heating up until the next one goes through. It can be 50 one day and 80 the next.

As far as jackets vs. sweatshirts, that will depend on whether it's windy or not. A jacket does a lot better job of blocking a cold wind than a sweatshirt. I usually bring a light jacket and a hoodie I can wear separately or together if necessary. Layers are always a good idea.

I was so worried for our trip (last week of February - we just got back yesterday). A week out, the forecast called for rain for every day except for Monday! I was so, so worried. In actuality, the ONLY day we saw any rain was on Tuesday, and even then it was just a light rain in the middle of the day. I wouldn't worry about it so far in advance - it seemed like the forecast changed by the hour in Florida!

I would get everything ready and decide last minute what to actually take.

That is usually our timeframe to visit Florida ( Disney and/or Clearwater), and have never encounter any more than an hour (tops) of rain. Usually it's sunny and a bit breezy with temps in the high 70's to low 80's. We're from NJ, so it's shorts and tanks all the way!

This is Florida and the one thing going to college there taught me is NEVER TRUST A FORECAST unless it's within a day or two. Temperatures are crazy. Cold in the mornings then heating up in the afternoons or even cold and windy one day and bright and warm the next. Pack cheap ponchos from Walmart in your bag every day you are there, regardless of if there is a rain forecast or not. If you forget and it does rain, you are either stuck where you are or forced to buy an expensive Mickey poncho. And in my personal opinion, don't leave the park if it starts raining. It may last about two hours and then be drizzly for a few more, at least from what I've seen. The best part of this is when it POURS rain, so few people bother putting on the poncho and braving the weather. Thank goodness because waiting times almost immediately shorten. No one is willing to leave from whatever store or inside attraction until the rain stops unless it's to leave the park. A lot of people go back to their resorts and the parks clear out a little bit and it's nice.

I will be there the 7-13th. Last night it said sunny. Now it's saying all rain which i hope is not the case. I haven't been to the parks in 5 years. I'm tryinh not to look at the forecast so much and just hoping for the best.

We're going at the same time of year and plan on wearing shorts/tee shirts most days and carrying a light jacket if necessary. If we get a really strong cold front while we're there, guess I'll be paying for some Disney winter clothing :) Like everyone else says, won't know what the temperature will be until a day or two before you leave. Even with that advice, you can expect it to change. We were at Disney in early December 2014 and the forecast called for 70's every day, and it ended up getting down into the 30's most of our trip! Crazy Florida weather...

Fingers crossed. Let's hope the forecast changes. A little rain I can deal with...would not look forward to days of it.

i'm trying not to get too bummed out about it. its been 5 years since my last visit to WDW so i am just going to have to make the best of it no matter what

As I posted on another thread, we were there last Sept. and watching wishes from TOLW and very dry. I have a great pic of the wishes fireworks and lightning over EPCOT. My buddy was in DTD at the same time and he is texting me saying its pouring there. So three locations same time and different weather. Pack the poncho and wish for the best.

I take my ponchos like everyone else, but we also take extra shoes , especially if you wear tennis shoes, in case they get wet. When it rains my grandchildren step in every puddle they can find! LOL!
