ok dvc vets I need your help. this will be my first time ordering a dvc annual pass for me and my wife....so exactly what do I need to do? our trip is in may...and I assume they don't start the 365 day clock until they are activated in the first turnstile?

thanks!

If you order by mail and they send the voucher to you you will have to take it to guest services at one of the parks to have it turned into an actual AP. The date you do that is the date it is activated. If you plan to do other things the first couple of days do not get the pass until you are ready to use it.

If you wish, you can buy them in person at any ticket window. You will need your DVC Membership Card and all adults must have a government issued id with the same address as the member. The main advantage in getting an exchange voucher would be to avoid a price increase. The last increase was August 2007, so I don't believe that there will be one before you arrive in May.

Hi,

I didn't know if you were aware, but you can buy these on the DVC member website. I ordered mine after Christmas and it came a week later. I do not plan on activating it until this August. When I was there last month I was told I could go to Guest Services at DTD or at any park when I am ready to activate it. For the time being, it is a plastic credit card type voucher. Just make sure if you buy ahead of time to put in a safe place!

i will be activating mine in june at WDW. could i also use them in DL before they expire or are they park specific?
thanks

If I purchase a voucher, do I want them to be held at will call or do I want to pay the $3.00 to have them mailed to me?

If I'm going in January, 2009 but purchase today, do the decision change?

Thanks!

Walt Disney World and DisneyLand annual passes are not interchangable. They are only valid at the park for which they were purchased.

You can also purchase them by calling Member Services.

But do DVC APs have blackout dates as do FL resident APs? And how many days would you have to use the AP to make it a better buy than a 10-day non-expiring parkhopper pass? (In other words, what if you aren't sure you'll actually be on site at least 10 days during that 12-month window?)

Annual Passes don't have blackout dates. The FL Seasonal Pass does.

I like to order my passes several months in advance. The vouchers give you the ability to access the Passholder area of the web site. They alway ahve some kind of promotion or discounts that are useful when your planning the next trip!:goodvibes

Which website are you referring to?

Thanks!

So what has to happen to "activate" the AP?

Do you have to enter a park or can Guest Services at DTD activate it?

Also, with respect to activation, does it matter if you buy in advance or buy in person at DTD?

The reason I ask is that we bought DDP for a Saturday night cash stay at POR prior to our OKW stay and we paid for the DDP upfront with the provision that we have an activated AP at check-in.

We want to minimize our running around after a 10 hour drive in order to get the AP active prior to check-in.

AP vouchers have to be exchanged prior to use. That can be done at any Ticket Window or Guest Services location.

I understand about the vouchers.

My question is about how the AP itself (once you have turned in the voucher) gets activated. Can Guest Services activate it or do you actually have to enter one of the parks?

I didn't see the DVC renwal AP rate for sale online. Must we call for those and who....MS or Tickets?

just a lesson learned:
if doing a "will call", bring a copy of your credit card statement showing the charges for any & all APs.

a story:rolleyes1 : i ordered 2 DVC APs "will call" before the price increase last year. one was placed on the DVC website (printed will-call w/barcode). the 2nd was placed via phone (website was down). i was told that both tickets were attached to the "will call" number, & noted that my 2 seperate CCs were charged for each.
2+ months later, go to IG on our saturday night of arrival, only one AP is in system. (no match came up on my CC either). they gave us comps for the night, so we could get it fixed when MS & ticketing reopened in the AM.
call MS the next day, got one of the "unhappy" CMs, who simply said they "can't help". i call WDW ticketing, who tries to track the AP but cannot find it. i had no choice but to purchase another AP that day at MGM (they did honor the price i paid initially). called ticketing again on monday, they still can't figure out where my missing, paid for AP is.

honestly, mostly everyone (excluding the one MS CM) was helpful, so i didn't get angry. but it certainly was extremelly frustrating wasting over 12+ hours of our vacation trying to fix this (& thank goodness i had a CC to put an additional few hundred on for another pass).

took about 2 months of perserverence & many, many phone calls after getting home (including my faxing CC statements, etc), before it was figured out.
someone in ticketing, for god knows what reason, had cancelled my second AP, & the "someone" didn't even refund my CC.....:confused3 .

the price for the missing AP was finally credited, but the moral of the story: bring your CC statements!!!
:)
