I have stayed at the all-star resorts before and am happy :teeth: with a value resort (so is my budget ::yes:: ) so we will be staying at the Pop Century. My question is how do my wife and I, just the two of us are going, make are stay at a value resort feel like we are in a deluxe resort :cloud9: ? I am looking for any and all of your advice, from room location to decorations. I think you Disers can come up with some fun ideas. :wizard:

Have a gift basket or fresh flowers pre-ordered and delivered to your room (others here can give you specific places to do that).

Request towel animals from the Mousekeepers.

Bring along some kind of bottled scent that smells luxurious to you and spray it in your room.

The 60's (for an extra $10/night) are the preferred rooms and typically closer to the bus stop, Classic Hall and main pool; however, we truly enjoyed our first floor stay in the 50's near the bowling pin pool. Quieter there and we never had to wait for the elevator.

Buy the refillable mugs so you can get drinks anytime you want.

The beds and pillows are okay, but if you have the room when packing (I know this is a bit far-fetched), pack along a nice blanket from home that you like. I didn't care for their blankets and sheets.

Make some PS's at the deluxe resorts, then before or after your meals there, wander through their grounds and gift shops.

Turn down your bed before you leave for the evening! I admit my son and I are a bit goofy *pun intended* about turndown, but we love it. When at Pop we did our own turn down! (We didn't do this at CSR as we were with DH and he just doesn't understand our whole Disney "thing")

I agree with #1Hockeymom (Hi Debbie!)...I did turn down for the rest of the party for our January trip (even brought my own chocolates for the pillows)...the rest of our party really enjoyed this. (count us as those that are *goofy* about turn down service...which really surprised me).

Sneak little presents onto the pillow for your DW when she is in the shower or on your way out of the room.

Be sure to put the Do not disturb sign on your door as mousekeeping starts very early at POP.

Get the gift basket as suggested and have it waiting for you upon arrival. Fellow DISer FeralPeg does some wonderful baskets that can be customized for you and DW.

The suggestion about special blankets and pillows assuming you have the packing space is a great one too.

Make sure you request a king room, and I hear that the ones toward hourglass lake can see some of the EPCOT fireworks.

I didn't notice when you were going, but decorate the room for the season...if summer, buy some inexspensive patio string lights to hang in the room for a little ambience....if in the fall, bring some fall decorations....at Christmas, bring a tree to decorate with Disney stuff!

Hope this helps!

Lynn

PS...we have stayed at all level of resorts at WDW, and truely LOVED POP! The only issue we had there was space in the room...but there are four of us, and we always overpack and travel with a person that has more toiletries than anyone should ever have! :teeth:

ask for some extra pillows from housekeeping......I always need my pillows!!

Bring a travel size: hairdryer and coffemaker

request king bed

bottle of wine and glasses

some candles

head over to one of the MK resorts and rent a boat (the 17 ft or pontoon)-this was the highlight of our trip .

the turndown sounds cute-before you go out for the evening-request some extra towels, turn down your beds, leave the lights on low, get (ahead of time) some cute candy from the giftshop and leave it on your pillows

When we stayed there last year we never got any towel animals. My 5DD's were so disappointed. You said to request them how do you do that? :confused3

Thanks,

Debs5Angels - When we were at Coronado Springs (our 14th stay at a Disney Resort), I was fed up for I had never recievied a towel animal once....I ONLY WANTED ONE!!!
Anyway, I left the tip on a note for the housekeeper and just asked if she could make a towel animal for us......so while we were leaving the room, I ran into our housekeeper and told her what I did she was so sweet, she made me a little duckie towel animal ON THE SPOT! I was floored! It was like watching ice sculpting but with towels.
Anyway, if you want one real bad, just leave a note, cant hurt to ask :goodvibes

Well, I just bought a white noise machine on ebay! I had been reading about the noise levels at the resorts and I thought this might help. It might make the room feel more secluded and peaceful. Also, I will be bringing the mickey mouse personalized robes for me and DBF to lounge around in. They have a nice deluxe-y spa kind of feeling. I also have nonbreakable collapsible wine glasses that we use camping, they might be great to bring, too! Just thought of that one!
Someone suggested a blanket from home, maybe pillowcases, too? (Just for the one where your face is)
This is such a great idea!
