How to make a request for an area at the resort

I notice that some of my fellow DVCers request certain areas for their room to be located in. Since I am new can anyone tell me how I can do that? Can I make the request after I have made my reservation or is it too late by then? If it is not too late can someone please tell me what is a good area to request a room at OKW. I have a delux studio reservation from July 3 -5 and don't want to be stuck in an area that faces the road. We plan on using our room and the resort more than the theme parks since it is going to be crowded that time.

It is very easy to make a request. You can put in your request at the time of reservation, or any time after. You just have to call member services. The only thing to remember is that a request is a request...it doesn't necessarily mean you'll get it. I've only made requests twice...both times at SSR when I asked for The Springs. And both times those requests were made. But it can be a hit or miss.

As for the best request at OKW, I'm sure others will weigh in. I've only stayed at OKW once - in 2005, so I'm not too familiar with the layout of the resort.

Another tip is to actually make sure you are requesting something in your booking category. At OKW Hospitality house area is a booking category so If you do not have that already booked do not request it.

I put the request in when I make the reservation. I keep it fairly general. DH is usually in the backround reminding me of it, but you have to wait until the CM goes through the "talk" about cancelling timeframe, borrowed points etc.

SSR-Congress Park section.

Multi story DVC(ie BWV,BCV,VWL) top floor

VB-depends on the unit I've booked. 2br=top floor, Beach Cottage=close to the pool.

When we book our home resort SSR, I request in this order, Congress Park, DTD view, upper floor and if family is with us building numbers close to the quiet pool right away. Usually when I book VGC, I take whatever I get, just happy to be there. BUT now with WOC in DCA, I asked for 3rd floor higher and Paradise Pier view.

My friend that owns OKW asks for Old Turtle Pond Road, golf course view, and 2nd floor. She always reserves a 2 bdrm and the view is great. We stayed in a studio at OKW in building 29, faced the golf course, but couldn't see anything because of all the vegetation.

Remember it is a request only. I found that my first request on the list is usually my most important one to me. Being in Congress Park at SSR is the most important to us. Haven't made a request for our July VGC stay.

I forgot about being close to the quiet pool at CP! That's what DH is usually yelling at me, "Don't forget close to the quiet pool", when making a SSR reservation.

Like you being in Congress Park is the most important to us. We checked in once Saturday b4 Thanskgiving and our CP/close to the quiet pool 2br wasn't ready yet at 11 am. CM found the same unit by the Grandstand pool that was ready, but we passed and said we'd wait for the CP unit. Had plans to drop the bags off and head to AK. She was rather shocked we preferred to wait.

Keep in mind that if you make a "popular" request (pool proximity and HH proximity) at that time of the year you may be out of luck.

If view is a priority try and pick a building/area that may not be heavily requested.
