Just wondering if anyone could tell me if there is somewhere to buy a Disney countdown calendar ( we live in Illinois ) or ideas or pictures on how to make a fun, cute one for our kids before our vacation?

My DH is working on one for our DD4 right now. he is doing an "advent calender" idea. 2 pieces of paper, the top is a Disney themed picture (we used a tinkerbelle scene)... put 14 or so (however many days you want to start the countdown from) "doors" to open in the picture.
On a 2nd piece of paper behind the first put smaller different Disney themed pictures to line up with the doors when they are opened and on the inside of the door we are writing 10 more days until.... (insert whatever the suprise is behind the door)

So when she opens the door with Woody and Buzz behind it we will write 10 more days until Toy Story Mania, etc....

Another idea I read about (probably on the DIS) is to make a paper chain like some do at Christmas time with construction paper. every day take a link off the chain when there are no more links... time to go to Disney!

I am going to move this to the Disney Tips Board-- you may get more responses there. :)

I've seen a lot of photos in TR's of people who went to Home Depot or Lowe's and grabbed a bunch of the Disney paint chips. They're Mickey heads in various colors. They then take a big piece of posterboard and tape as many chips for as many days as they have left onto the board, and number them. I'm going solo, so I just have my countdown on a whiteboard on my wall.

I made one one the computer... just put the actual date on... then how many more days and a fund picture. I made 4 days on 1 piece of paper then cut it into fourths punched two holes at the top put ribbon thru them and hung it up. pull one off every day!
It vaguley looks like...

July 17th

29 days

until Disney

That is exactly what I did. Here is a picture of mine:

The Mickey heads are paint chips from Home Depot. The Designs were from shirts that I had created through the Creative Disigns thread. My kids would take off a Mickey head for each day.

Hope this helps.

Someone on here has the PDF for sheets to print and cut up. Then you make a paper chain. It's really cute. There is a character on each day. My son rips off his loop, announces how many days, then hangs the loop on the fridge.

Here is the one I just finished. Behind each colored square is a Disney Fun Fact or a picture from last years trip.

Oohhhh...I like yours. I might have to "borrow" that concept for our next trip - if you don't mind? :thumbsup2

No Problem! Just don't bring it out too soon like I did. ;) We are about 50+ days away from our trip and the calendar is for the last 30 days. I'm having to beat them off with sticks to prevent them from uncovering any of the days! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Here are the pictures of the 2 calendars I made for my girls last year. They enjoyed taking off a ring each night and placing a mickey head on the number as well.

Here's what ours looked like, each day we punched a hole on one of Mickeys fingers. I wanted to use Mickey heads instead of hands, but the kids wouldn't let me punch holes in Mickey's head! :lmao:
