How to make a BB8 Magic Band Smaller

Anyone have any tips for me? We leave on Friday to drive down to Disney and both of my kids got a BB8 magic band and I don't know how to make it smaller for them. I want to be sure BB8 is still on the magic band.

Have you removed the removable outer grey part of the band?

Videos I found explaining how to do this.

Removing the outer grey part on these will still leave BB8 on the bands.

I have successfully trimmed magic bands with scissors to make them smaller but not thinner. Works fine. Use a file to smooth edges if necessary.

Either pull the outer band off or cut it. If you cut it try to cut it round like the end of the MB and then file the rough edges. Not 100% necessary but makes it more comfortable. I usually cut mine down because I use the last peg of the kids size and 1st of adult so can't peel it off but all the extra makes it uncomfortable.
