How to keep in touch inside a cruise

If part of my family is somewhere in the cruise, and the rest in another, how do we keep in touch if we have prepaid phones with a phone company from the US? We'd be sailing across the Caribbean, how does it work?

Dcl has a new app called Navigator. If the phones get wifi you can download and use the app. The work is free for the app. There's a messaging feature in the app.

Download it before sailaway.

All of the staterooms have wave phones that are free to use. Using the wave phones, you can call and/or text others on the ship. The wave phones also work on Castaway Cay.

Another option is the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app which is available for iPhones and select Android devices. The app which accesses the ships wifi (free for use by the Navigator app only) has a messaging feature.

Each room has two Wave phones that can be used for no additional charge. If you need more than the two, then you can rent extras for a small charge. I think the cost is $3.50 per day per extra phone.

I've heard Wave phones are being phased out for the new Navigator app message feature (but it's only available on the Fantasy and Dream?). Does anyone know if all Magic and Wonder staterooms sill have Wave phones?

The app doesn't work on CC, no Wi-fi. It works great on board though.

The Wonder still has the wave phones, but we couldn't get messenger to work on our iPhones last week on her.
