How to Handle School Bullies

***THIS IS NOT LEGAL ADVICE****

I see you are in NY. I would go to an attorney. In NY, you can sue a school for negligent supervision if they have notice that there is a problem, they fail to resolve it, and the student is injured b/c of the problem - even if it is at the hands of another student. I would continue to advise the school of these incidents - name names of the students, and would also do it in writing - so if anything happens to your son, you have recourse.

Grrrrr. The one saying I hate most of all is "boys will be boys". There is no reason why those boys should be behaving like they are, and it's people who say that saying who are causing a huge part of the problem.

Sorry, but that particular saying is like nails on a chalkboard. My boys are boys, but they do not behave like that, and there's no way I would tolerate it or excuse it!

Amen!!! I am totally with you on this! Kilee--I am so sorry you and your son are going through this. That response from the school is totally garbage and unacceptable. Hope you get some answers today, though I have to say I think the situation warrants taking it further instead of waiting to see if something else happens. What if that something else is that your DSs leg is injured again?

I just saw this. We had a bullying incident with my DS last year that was MUCH less than what your DS is going through, and the kid was suspended for 5 days. The school took it VERY seriously, and dealt with it swiftly and severely. Your school is failing you. If our school hadn't dealt with it, I would have gone to the police with bruise pictures in hand.
